A great thing to compare is the Roketto-dan! The Origin of Love and Youth/Roketto-dan! Love and The Origin of Youth! special to its dubbed counterpart, Training Daze.
Even without the dialogue, the music that contributes to the mood conveys the emotion much more nicely.
Check You Tube, the dub version of Training Daze was up yesterday or the day before, last I checked. I've got clips of the Japanese version of some of the scenes. I have the whole thing, but have yet to get around to uploading it in its entirety. xD; I should get around to that.
