Um, gee.

I used to be nuts about Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego? when I was a kid. X3 Specifically, I loved Greg and Rockapella (I had a major crush on Sean!), and I found the Chief very cool. I liked Carmen herself, but I hated most of her henchpeople. LOL. They annoyed the heck out of me. I liked Kneemoi, though.

Sometime in the ... I dunno whether it was the second or third season, but something happened in one of the Chief's Office sketches that freaked me out so badly I did not want to watch the show anymore. I later tried to convince myself it was a dream, because when I have too much of something, I end up dreaming about it in often unflattering ways. XD; And I didn't want to believe I'd really seen it.

Mom tried to help me get over the fear and to enjoy the show again, but she was only partially successful. I was just too afraid of seeing that in the reruns, so I stopped watching after a while.

Fast-forward many years later, I'm still avoiding the show like the plague. Kaze finds the theme song and I listen to it, but can't really enjoy it because I'm thinking about that thing and wondering again if it was real. I try to find out, but I can't find anything anywhere. I convince myself again that it was a dream, that PBS wouldn't have allowed something that bizarre and creepy, etc.

Few months later ... a few days ago, I get extremely nostalgic about Rockapella again, thanks to Kaze. ♥ And I want to see them in action again. I watched a clip of the ending of an episode and they were singing the Carmen song, and I felt the old familiar thrill and squee. I also dug up a clip Crystal Rose had found a while back that I'd never been able to bring myself to watch because of avoiding the show. The clip was hilarious, by the way! LOL, snowball.

Today ... I finally found out, courtesy of Wikipedia, what I've both needed and dreaded to know all these years.

What I hoped was a dream really was on the show. **shudders.**

Maybe I wasn't able to find out several months ago because I wasn't ready to accept it then. XD; I'm hoping now that I know I can put it behind me and just enjoy the good stuff the show had to offer. And of course, I must be careful never to find that episode. XD; No way in Heck do I want to see that sequence again. I can honestly say it's had a lasting negative effect on me, and not just where the show is concerned. I think I'm still a little shaken to find out I really saw it.

On a much more cheerful note ... have I ever said that I think my first-ever hurt/comfort scenario involved Sean? XD; I had Mom make these paper dolls of Rockapella and we'd act out stuff. I orchestrated h/c. ♥ I was five or six.

I still wish I knew how I learned the idea of h/c. LOL. I don't remember if it was because of the Little Audrey cartoon with the bird or if it started before that. The cartoon definitely helped, in any case.

Yep, Patty Larceny. XD; **hates valley girls too.** And LOL @ what she stole!

Yeah, I need to look through all the CDs available there. X3 I'll look for the lyrics to the Christmas song!

**nodnod.** He really doesn't look much different! ^^ **has also watched some recent clips of them in concert on YouTube.**

Oh, the anvil one? But I thought it didn't really hit anyone. XD The anvil sketch I saw had it coming after Greg and he leaped out of the way just in time, but somehow this cardboard cutout of him got under the anvil. LOL. Which was admittedly rather creepy before it was acknowledged as a cutout. XD;

Well, sometimes comedy shows use a form of h/c, usually never more than someone being knocked out, though. XD LOL @ the doomed informant. I was always waiting for someone to acknowledge that the giant baby informant was Barry, but no one ever did! Ha ha.

That's weird that some recaps were kept, but not all. XD; Oh well, at least you have some! ^^

**nod nod** That was the one. I was really young at the time when I saw it, and the cutout scared me... badly... XD

LOL, I remember the giant baby! XD I also liked the surreal "backstage" sketches where something went "wrong," so Greg had to "take five" and would wander around backstage, encountering Rockapella along the way, who would be holding up some clues without saying a word! X3 Oh, and the celebrity clue-givers were much love. ^^ **Remembers a hilarious one where Shari Lewis comes with one of her puppets (I think it was Charlie Horse, if memory serves me correctly), singing "The Song that Never Ends," but as "The Clue that Never Ends," driving Greg bonkers! XD LOL**

**hugs recaps** I think when the eps were aired on HBO (they were aired there first, before Nickelodeon), they were aired as the full 40 min ep, and the extra recaps were added for the Nickelodeon airing. Since they were in the full 40 min. form on the DVD, they didn't have the extra recaps. **Is trying to desperately remember the "Crab With the Golden Claws" recap in order to recall Tintin's narration of meeting the Captain, but is drawing a blank ;__;** But since Unicorn/Rackham and the Inca duology are connected, they had the recaps for those. **Wonders why they didn't keep the recap for the Moon duology** Oh, well...

**nodnod.** I remember being alarmed and disbelieving at first, but then relaxing considerably when the real Greg appeared. XD I think I ended up finding it terribly amusing that there was a random cutout of Greg roaming around. Even though the anvil thing itself was still creepy.

LOL. I think I remember those surreal scenes! Yay breaking the fourth wall!

That sounds hilarious with Shari! I wonder if that clip's on YouTube. XD

Ahh, I see. ^^ Yeah, they should have kept the Moon ones, too!

Yeah, I think my eyes went as wide as dinner plates for a while...

Ah, yes... that oh-so-fragile fourth wall! XD Sometimes I wonder what YGO would've been like if that happened once or twice **remembers one ad/trailer where that actually happened with Seto and Yami Yugi acting confused upon hearing a "narrator" XD**. Tintin had a few moments in the books with Snowy, though once or twice in the episodes, the Captain gives a bemused look at the "camera" XD.

I don't know if it is... that one's straight out of my memory banks! X3 **too bad the "Crab With the Golden Claws" recap didn't join it. -__- But, in my defense, this was all fifteen years ago! XD**

Yes, they should've kept the Moon recap... not to mention that h/c ending that they totally removed!

[identity profile] insaneladybug.livejournal.com 2008-09-16 03:11 am (UTC)(link)
LOL. I remember that YGO promo! Those were so silly. **remembers one with orange soda spilling everywhere.** Yay for bemused looks at the camera!

Removing h/c is a crime!

**And the one where the Paradox Bros. totally defy gravity and don't come down from their acrobatics! XD LOL; Yugi-tachi supposedly gets bored waiting for them to come down and the leave for a "lunch break" XD**

[identity profile] insaneladybug.livejournal.com 2008-09-16 03:31 am (UTC)(link)
Yep. LOL. And the one where Seto and Yugi argue over who should flip the coin to decide who goes first. XD

[identity profile] rose-of-pollux.livejournal.com 2008-09-16 03:38 am (UTC)(link)
Aww, I missed that one! How did that end up? ...Do I want to know...?

[identity profile] insaneladybug.livejournal.com 2008-09-16 03:39 am (UTC)(link)
There never was a resolution. XD They kept arguing.

[identity profile] rose-of-pollux.livejournal.com 2008-09-16 03:42 am (UTC)(link)
LOOOOL... Oh, Seto... XD

Thing is, it isn't *that* OOC for him. XD

[identity profile] insaneladybug.livejournal.com 2008-09-16 03:44 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, LOL. **snerk.**
