That's definitely true in a lot of cases. I'm one of the few fans of the Bowery Boys films who prefers Duke over Slip, and possibly some of that is because I saw Duke first. But I also think it's because Duke appeals more to my personality, since I tend to prefer his type over Slip's in other things.

All of those reasons could have definitely contributed to not liking Burt's character. Now I'm curious: What is his character on Gunsmoke like?

Watching with an open mind is a good idea! I fell in love with Ben and Grey's friendship from the first time I saw them interact.

LOL. Us early h/c and/or whump lovers. I became a fan of it when I was around four or five. No one told me it was sick, but I figured it was on my own and went through a period where I didn't want to talk about at all (although before that time period, I'd been doing hurt/comfort scenarios in role-plays with my mom). I was overjoyed to get online and discover that I wasn't some sick nut (or at least, if I am, I have plenty of company).

I wish there was an alternate term for comfortless hurt. LOL. "Whump" just sounds so silly. And so inappropriate when the injury is worse than a bump on the head.

I suppose by strict definition, I lean more towards "whump" sometimes. I like to drag out scenes as long as possible before reviving characters. Even though that's often not really possible in my scenarios.
