I can't seem to make myself concentrate on the ghost town fic. I've got the beginning done, and a little bit here and there; I wrote an intense and creepy scene out of order where Mel Barnes (the character from that Bonanza episode) possesses Kolchak to torment Tony and try to strangle him. But unlike with the mirror fic, when I wrote the ending first, that did not spur me on to work on the parts that came before.

It may be because I have written stories about two other ghost towns, both based on the same Hardy Boys ghost story. And it gets a bit difficult to make each of these towns somewhat different from the others. I think I know how to make this town different from all the rest, though, thanks to the Partridge Family song that inspired the whole thing to begin with. And thanks to Mel Barnes, the psycho creep, who will probably play the largest role in what happens to Kolchak and Tony in the ghost town.

I may also be having trouble because I feel a lot better about that fic I was tinkering with on the weekend. I came up with a darker explanation for what happened to Kolchak, which suits me much better than some astral-projection thing. The only humorous thing I really wanted was Tony's initial reaction to seeing a ghostly Kolchak, which I can imagine would be classic. Crystal encouraged me too, and I ended up writing another scene. Tony is the only one who can see Kolchak because he cares about Kolchak enough to be able to. The sorceress who struck Kolchak down is enraged; she didn't think anyone would care about him enough to see him. I don't know whether I'll really write out the whole fic of this, but it definitely will be so much different than the one I did with Mr. Zero, so I might. Also, this one is more from Tony's point-of-view, while the Mr. Zero one was from Kolchak's, so that makes a big difference too.

Awww. That's awesome. I'll have to check into The Intruder! What are the episode titles of the others you mentioned?

I don't mind CGI in some cases (it made The Lord of the Rings amazing). But when it looks obviously fake and doesn't match the rest of the movie/TV show, then there's a problem.

Thank you for the recommendations! I think I'll try Island in the Desert first. Wow.

I don't think I even realized they used CGI in anything much other than sci-fi and fantasy, and maybe action....

I dug up the Riverboat episode The Landlubbers and watched that. So nice and suspenseful! I far prefer the adventurous episodes to the ones that focus more on Grey's love life (with the exception of The Path of the Eagle, with Marion). I tried watching Race to Cincinnati (the one with Anne Baxter) and her flirting drove me out of my head within a few minutes. I still need to watch the rest.

And Simon Oakland plays good guys in the early Gunsmoke episodes How to Cure a Friend and Overland Express! I'm particularly in love with the latter.
