Well, through a long and somewhat strange series of events, I managed to get the Pony set of Luna and Celestia thanks to Dad and a former brother-in-law who has remained a very dear family friend. And instead of 30% off, it had gone down to 50%! I got both Ponies for as much as I would have otherwise got the glitter-free Luna by herself.

I've gotta say, as much as I'm not crazy about pink Celestias, I fell in love with this pink Celestia once I had the set. She has her own beauty, and oh my, her hair is so thick and luscious and gorgeous! So is Luna's. I don't know if all Fashion Style Ponies have so much hair for their manes, or if it's just to try to recapture the flowing look the Princesses have, but it's just beautiful. And the glitter and tinsel really do add to the ethereal quality these Ponies have, especially on Luna.

I had a bit of a time figuring a good spot for them where I could see them from the laptop, but I finally set them on top of my DVD player, on either side of the small framed picture I have of Kaze and me. It's a nice location, and it's appropriate, since Kaze was instrumental in getting my interest in the new Pony show spurred on.

They're really gorgeously big! They're even a bit bigger than G1 Ponies. I wish it wasn't so expensive getting hold of just one Fashion Style. It's hard to think of buying one at Wal-Mart for $14.98 when I picked up two for that price.

And I started the story with Claire and Carl Armory (from the Bonanza episode Her Brother's Keeper). I'll probably try to finish the current scene for theme #12 at [livejournal.com profile] 31_days, but I'm on the fence as to whether I'll write the whole story. It's an intriguing challenge that I'd be willing to take on, but I'm wondering if it will be very emotionally draining dragging Carl into the depths of despair as he tries to take care of Claire and gradually becomes a stronger person in the process.

They seem to live in San Francisco when they're not in Virginia City, so that sparked an idea of Carl meeting up with James Jeffers (yes, Richard Anderson's Wild Wild West character) when he's at the end of his rope and James helping him and giving him encouragement. Of course, that quickly led to the idea of them popping up in my Wild Wild West fic. They talk to Jim West in chapter 4 and may or may not return in the fic.

The WWW fic takes place several years after the events of this proposed idea in my head where Carl becomes emotionally stronger. I figured that by Bonanza starting in the 1860s. Assuming it moves right along, it'd probably be 1868 or 1869 by season 7. Then that gives Carl and Claire a few years to settle in and Carl to change before the WWW adventure in the 1870s.

This is Carl:

Carl Armory

He's purty. I will hug him now.

I am amused by my idea of having Old West characters played by Wesley Lau and Richard Anderson being friends, considering how they both play police on Perry Mason. Sort of a fun parallel, albeit the characters are very different from their Perry counterparts.

And I've heard of this new Sailor Moon anime project to come out next year. While most fans are flailing and squealing and dancing about, I'm rather lukewarm. It is certainly exciting, for Sailor Moon to be in the spotlight again, but ... I was hoping for the original anime to come back to the States. It was about my third anime, I think, and I love it so very dearly. In spite of any flaws it has, I can't imagine a new series being better than it. (Especially if it follows the manga, which I just don't like as much. Right now we don't know whether it will or not, suspicious Tweets notwithstanding.) And I can't help also being a bit concerned over whether the new series will kind of replace the old. I didn't worry that way over Pretty Guardian, since it's live-action, but a new anime kind of puts me on guard. Even though I know of course that the original anime will always have loyal fans.

I am interested and tentatively excited for the new series, and will likely get more enthusiastic as we go along, especially since some of the voice actors are returning (Usagi's and Mamoru's, it seems). But I will mostly keep hoping at this point for the original anime to come back, even if it's just as a promotion for the new series.

Whoa, a new Sailor Moon anime? Man, I haven't watched any Sailor Moon in over ten years.

Yep, they were even advertising it on the LJ main page. Not sure if they still are.

Aww, that's nice that you put the ponies near the pic of you and Kaze! Someday, I need to go back to your state for the sole purpose of seeing you...

Aww, yes, he is purty.

(LOL, I've been idly musing about what if the Monkees [one or more, though I naturally picture Mike] had guest-starred on Bonanza. After that nonsense that was Monkees in Texas, it would've been awesome to see Mike show up on the Ponderosa for real, playing a singing cowboy or something. Maybe that's just me after seeing the other three play guys besides themselves, but... yeah.)

Ah, Sailor Moon. One of the very few shojo series I've been mildly interested in, but have never actually gotten around to reading/watching...

And I can't help also being a bit concerned over whether the new series will kind of replace the old.
You know, every time I saw an ad/promo for a new YGO series, I felt the same way. But DM is still going strong (it airs on the CW every Saturday, as does the new Zexal series, which I haven't seen and probably won't), so there always will be a "First installment wins" thing going on, especially with older fans.

Yes, that would be awesome!

Such soft blond hair and gorgeous blue eyes....

A Monkee on Bonanza would have been epic. Mike would be a perfect choice.

Sailor Moon is definitely worth watching! So much friendship squee and intense stuff going on.

I worried that way too, for GX especially. But I've settled in now and don't have any serious YGO concerns. I don't even know what Zexal is about.

Now, if they announced they were going to remake YGO Duel Monsters, I would go on guard the same way I am with Sailor Moon, since that would be a closer parallel. There's no need to remake perfection. Although I wish they'd make an OVA of Duke's manga introduction. That would be epic.

And that's so cool that the CW still shows the original YGO! Where are they at right now?

Yes!

Indeed. Looking at his imdb, it seems that the only times Mike played anyone other than himself were some rare, brief cameos. Huh.

Yeah, I have no idea about Zexal either. LOL.

They're nearing the end; "In the Name of the Pharaoh" is next week. I don't know if they will take it off after finishing the final arc, or if they'll start over, but I hope they'll start over.

Huh. Interesting. Oh, you need to see Micky on Adam-12. Someone compiled the clips with him and had them on YouTube. Dunno if they're still up, though; I watched the full episode (without knowing beforehand he was in it).

Wow, it seems surreal that they're near the end. I was thinking they wouldn't be there yet. They'd better start over.
