Hmm, spoke too soon.

Regarding that anime, I tried it again tonight, as I had some free time. The first episode I watched (episode 7) was just totally nuts (although it had some good friendship bonding) and I was honestly about ready to just give up and decide the series was too off-the-wall for me. But the next episode was more serious and about a more quiet character I like a lot, so I really enjoyed that.
Still, I felt I wanted to re-read the detailed summary of the show's plot that I'd read before I watched any of it but forgot the details of later. I just wasn't feeling the show overall and I hoped maybe that would give me more motivation to continue. When I did that, I decided I really wanted to watch the final two episodes before continuing in a proper manner. I don't do that very often, but I definitely didn't regret doing it this time. The final episodes were filled with so much beautiful friendship squee that I was just in Heaven. I loved everything about those episodes and felt that the ending was just perfect. Now I'm totally eager to go back and watch the other episodes and see what got the characters to that point, even if there are other really weird episodes like #7.
The anime, by the way, is Petite Princess Yucie.
