Went looking for DC sites in the morning, and I found a French one. Curiously wanting to know what was said about the Black Org members, I took the text and ran it through Babelfish for a basic translation. Vermouth's page says that she is Gin's mistress. .___.; Dunno how they got that idea. She flirts with him, and he lets her, but that seems to be because he's usually so calm and blasé, and he doesn't find Vermouth worth getting visibly irritated over, most of the time (though he did get mad when she teased him and Vodka during the nightclub scene). If she was his mistress, then Gin/Vermouth would pretty much be a canon pairing, which it isn't.

I'm still tinkering with the oneshot for Theme #9 on 30 Nights. I think it's finally almost ready, though. And I have various plunnies for future experiments/stories.

1. For 30 Nights, a fic involving a snowstorm and Sherry worrying about Gin and Vodka's safety, as they're out in it, perhaps on a job. And they do come back safe. ^^ (Hopefully it will not bear resemblance to the great Kaito/Aoko fic that Candy__Chan wrote!)

2. Also for 30 Nights ... a darker subject, and I'm hesitant to do anything with it or even to mention it. ^^; But it would involve Sherry being pregnant and then miscarrying, and how she deals with it and how Gin tries to figure out how to help her deal with it. I'm *really* iffy on it, and I probably won't write it. But it keeps bothering me anyway. XD;

3. For 100_Situations, a scare where Vodka might have cancer. He doesn't, but I've been bouncing the plunnie around in my head. Gin can worry for a change, though of course with him, he'll never say he's worrying and will try to honestly convince himself he isn't.

4. Also for 100_Situations, I need to finish that fic where Gin overworks himself and collapses. XD;

5. I had some other plunnie for 100_Situations, but at the moment I can't think of it, though maybe it was that fic where Gin is missing/presumed dead, and Vodka is assigned to work with Vermouth.... Then there's the one detailing the early days of Gin and Vodka's partnership, and how they finally came to get along....

EDIT: I've tried to think about what kind of jobs Gin and Vodka might have during the Good Enough for You storyline. And I can't really think of anything. XD; I considered mercenaries, but after being part of a big syndicate, and being one of the highest ranked members, I don't think Gin would really want to end up as just a hired gun. Too much pride, and too little control over what would happen.

I also need to rework chapter 7 of Breakdown, as per Aubrie's advice, and I'd like to write chapter 4 of No Way Out, though I'd like to get some more opinions on what I've done with chapter 3 first....

Well, no offense, but in canon(At last in the french version) Vermouth was Gin's mistress...
To be more precise, in the martini scene in the bar, she said...
"Un petit martini COMME AU BON VIEUX TEMPS, ca ne te tenterait pas?"
In english, it would become something like "Would you mind to share a little martini with me, ONCE AGAIN?"
And Gin didn't contradict her so...
Well, you could argue than maybe, in the original version, Vermouth lines didn't implies than she was once Gin's mistress, but neither of us had read the japanese version...But a french who had read the manga in his own languague could perfectly infer than in canon, Gin was vermouth's mistress...
That said, I'm agree than Gin/Vermouth was one-sided and than Gin didn't feels love for her, but it is possible he could have feeled lust for her...
He is bored when Vermouth ask him to share a little martini with her, yes, but it could be because the intimate moment they are shared was just something he had accept to done because he was bored this time...Or maybe because, before to know Sherry, Vermouth was the only woman who had interessed him...
For now, we could only infer since we know nothing about Gin, Sherry and vermouth's past...

And, what could made you said than Gin/Vermouth was non-canon?
There is an interview I missed when Aoyama had said that?
It's the same thing for Gin/Sherry, this pairing is not canon at all...
Some fan are infered than Gin and Sherry was more than colleague(And vol 24 prove that), yes, but there is no evidence than they were lover, or than Gin had feeled more than lust or maybe just curiosity toward Sherry before Akemi's death...
For now, fan could made what they want in the plotholes which need to be lighted...

That said, you've become like me, too many plunnies to hand...XD
I hope they will not kill you, plunnies have so harsh teeth when they'are too much to be handled...^^;

That's interesting about the French translation. ^^ Yeah, from language to language, there's all kinds of varying translations. I guess the only way to for certain know what's originally meant is to be a Japanese language major.

If I say Gin/Vermouth, I'm thinking of it being a two-sided thing. XD Usually I go Vermouth/Gin, which means it's one-sided, on her part. Though neither is officially canon, as far as I know, and neither is Gin/Sherry, even though some fans like to imagine that it is. XD

I do have a hard time even imagining Gin even just being fascinated with/interested by Vermouth, since she annoys him so much. ^^

Well, Gin is a man like everybody else, so there must be times when he feels desire, and Vermouth is an attractive woman, and the only Syndicate's member who is as skilled than him, so I could see Gin beeing, in a way, interessed by Vermouth, even for a short time, in the past...(For Sherry it's another question...XD)
And even if he is annoyed by her, he also seemed to respect her(In the end of vol 24, he said to her"I'm sorry a woman like you was forced to help an old bag like Pisco to escape the cop, but you were the only one who could did that"), and there is even times when those two seemed shared a bemused "friendship"(Like in black impact, "Well, I will let the sleeping Kogoro in peace, for now, but only because you seemed to like him.").
That said, I don't think than Gin/Vermouth could be two-sided or even one-sided for Vermouth...
I could see her beeing amused and lighty interessed by Gin, but I don't think she could love him in a romantic way...
(I could see Vermouth beeing in love, but not with Gin...)
In my opinion, it's believable those two could have shared a one-night stand, but I don't think one of them could trully beeing in love with the other...
The relationship with those two is interessing because it's neither love nor friendship..Xd

2. ...I'm not the only one who's been considering this topic. But I wasn't sure if I was going to make it a Nights fic for Kaito/Aoko, or a Ways fic for Shinichi/Ran. I can't decide, but it would be a nice, interesting change of pace.

Gin/Vermouth...I dunno. I just don't know. But with the way I interpret Vermouth's character, I'm not necessarily sure that she would be content to be a mere mistress--at least, not in the sense that I think of the word 'mistress.' That could just be me, though ^^;;

1. Buwahahaa! Yes, the cuteness! XD I love cuteness for the pairing though I must make sure not to do fluff, which is a level or two above cuteness and would be scary for this particular pairing!

2. I'm glad to know it wasn't just something that came out of my weird mind! XD; And yes, it would definitely be an interesting change of pace, and a way to explore the characters' personalities even more deeply. It would be a challenge to determine both Sherry's and Gin's reactions while keeping them in character.

I'm not sure, either. XD; I see Vermouth as possibly being the type who would do whatever it took to get her way, including charming a guy into bed, but if she was a mistress, it would kinda seem to me that she would have to be submissive to the guy, and I doubt she would want that at all. She would want to be in complete control. At least, she seems to be that way, with all her secrets and her flirting and the way she likes to annoy Gin.

2. I've been thinking about it for a while...and really, if I use it for Kaito and Aoko, I have an excuse to bring Aya-chan back again, in all her cuteness! Except it'll be sad. I see Kaito dropping her off with one of her grandparents, and she's trying to explain to Grandma/pa that Mommy's baby went away... ;-;

See, that's what I think, too. I hear the word 'mistress,' and I think of the woman as being subserviant. And that is NOT Vermouth's character. She likes to dominate call the shots. I don't think she'd stand for having to submit to anyone--she'd shoot the guy dead before she'd submit, I think. She has her secrets, and she likes to tease. I don't think the teasing is necessarily restricted to Gin, but I do think he's his favorite target =P

Indeed, I'm sure Gin is her favorite. XD But I can see her teasing other guys, too. And I get too much of a kick out of her teasing Vodka in my fics.

Yup! Aya-chan is one of my few original characters--I needed for Kaito and Aoko to have a kid for one of my Nights fics, and I wound up falling in love with my Little Plot Device. So she's been back for a couple of omake stories. Most recently, she heard Mommy say that the blender died, and flushed it down the toilet because that's how they buried her dead goldfish ♥

*giggles* I bet she's just a tease, period. Poor Vodka wouldn't know what to do!

Oh, Aoko let Kaito handle it. As to the goldfish, that was Aoko's doing. She said that it was good for little Aya-chan to have a pet, and a goldfish was an obvious choice. Kaito just had to avoid it *pats Kaito on the head*

Oh, do show do show! Actually, I think she'd have fun with a lot of different drinks. There's a drink made with gin and vodka called "a long comfortable screw against the wall." So. Much. FUN TO BE HAD!! *cheers*

**snerk @ drink name.** Oh, Vermouth would have a heyday with that. XD She loves making fun of the rumors that Bourbon (an OC) started about Gin and Vodka being romantically involved.

Here is part of a scene from Breakdown, when Gin is missing and Vodka is looking for him. ^^

He was startled out of his thoughts by a knock on the door. "What is it?" he called.

"I wanted to talk to you, Vodka," came Vermouth's voice from the other side.

Vodka groaned to himself. "The door's unlocked," he replied.

The knob turned and the blonde woman stepped into the room. "You look so tired," she remarked, shutting the door after her. "Thinking about Gin?"

Vodka sighed and shrugged. Talking to Vermouth was always a new experience in being flustered. Finally he looked up at her, holding the cigarette between his fingers. "I just can't figure out where he might be," he said then.

Vermouth came in further and sat on the chair opposite Vodka. "Well," she mused, "if it was the woman who arranged the bomb, it seems strange that she left her car behind." She took out a cigarette of her own and lighted it, crossing her legs as she leaned back against the easy chair.

Vodka knew that she was right. "But who else would even have a motive?" he exclaimed.

She shrugged. "It's hard to say. Any operative of the Black Organization is bound to have quite a collection of enemies."

Vodka was silent. While that was true, offhand he could not think of anyone bold enough to actually abduct Gin. Most of their enemies, despite hating Gin, would not dare to get into a situation where the blonde assassin would be in their domain. They would be too afraid of what would happen to them if they did. Though, if the plan all along was to get Gin too hurt to resist them. . . . He gripped the cigarette tighter, nearly crushing it.

"What did you want to talk about, Vermouth?" he said now, suddenly remembering that she was there.

She leaned forward, her eyes glinting with mischief. "I was just wondering," she purred, "if you knew that sometimes martinis are made by combining vodka and vermouth."

Vodka stared at her in disbelief. He could feel the color creeping into his face, and his only consolation was that she could not see his widened, appalled eyes. She had come to flirt with him, since Gin was not around for her to bother? He wanted to say something, and he could feel his mouth moving, but no words came out. He could not think of anything to say. If Gin were here, he would jump in at that point and change the subject, silently scolding Vermouth for being so ridiculous by giving her a deathglare.

She laughed softly and winked. "I'm only kidding," she told him. "Even though it's true."

Well, agree, I don't think than Vermouth could be sumbmissive, neither Gin...
That's why is so fun to imagine those two in the same bed, in my opinion, it was more teasing and attempt to made the other loose the control than love...XD
But well, Vermouth is a so complex character...^^
I think the way she act in bed depend one the guy who shared it with her...
With Gin, it would be just flirt, but with someone she trully love, I think she could be a sweet person(Sweet don't equal submisive).
