Quiz Thingie

Comment to this entry and I'll pick three of your fandoms. You then update your journal and answer the following questions:

01: What got you into this fandom in the first place?
02: Do you think you'll stay in this fandom or eventually move on?
03: Favorite episodes/books/movies/etc.?
04: Do you participate in this fandom (fanfiction, graphics, discussions)?
05: Do you think that more people should get into this fandom?

I was given Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego?, Final Fantasy VII, and Yu-Gi-Oh! by Crystal Rose.

Carmen

01: What got you into this fandom in the first place? I was four years old, looking through the TV Guide (which we subscribed to at the time) and seeing all the upcoming shows. I see a short bit (and a picture! ^O^) about Carmen, and am instantly thrilled. "DETECTIVE SHOW! MUST WATCH!" I think Mom was a little concerned about me watching a detective show so young, but when she watched it and saw what it was, she was hooked too. And we both loved the guys, especially Sean. X3
02: Do you think you'll stay in this fandom or eventually move on? Honey, I never really left, as several things I've been remembering can attest (wanting to buy one of the computer games around 2000 or later, being interested in the Comfort and Joy album around 2002 or 2003). I'll never leave.
03: Favorite episodes/books/movies/etc.? The Boll Weevil Retrieval was my favorite as a kid (loved the anvil sketch!), as well as The Case of the Pilfered Palace (they go to Utah! Squee! ^O^) and The Costume Caper (for Zombie Jamboree). I also have always loved The Taking of the Shrew. The Case of the False False Teeth, Disturbing the Heavenly Peace, What's What With Watts, Bad Day on Broadway, The Patty Pony Pinch, Who Copped the Afro-Pop?, Losin' the Blues Blues, You Ain't Nothin' But a House Thief, White Out, and A Frank Case of Theft are other favorites, among numerous others.
04: Do you participate in this fandom (fanfiction, graphics, discussions)? Heck yeah. I would like to say I pioneered the concept of serious fics for the fandom, but I think Erica and Solidfoamsoul have me beat. XD (Solidfoamsoul, I know, came up with the concept about nine years ago.) I also participate in discussions at the V.I.LE. HQ forums and other places.
05: Do you think that more people should get into this fandom? Of course! Let's spread the wonderfulness and silliness and geography lessons and good music and all-around fun!

Final Fantasy VII

01: What got you into this fandom in the first place? I'd been hearing of the wonders of AC for some time, from Aubrie, Lisa, and others. I always meant to check it out after it released here, but I didn't get the chance since it came out right around the time we were trying to sort things out after moving. XD; When the dust settled, Stacey was telling me some things about it and I was intrigued by the Turks, so I finally looked it up and watched a version with really bad subs. XD; But I was hooked anyway. And I asked for it for Christmas that year. After repeated viewings, I knew I'd found another fandom like YGO, that I could really sink my teeth into. I definitely wish I'd gotten into it sooner, but I'm glad I finally did get into it.
02: Do you think you'll stay in this fandom or eventually move on? If I like something, I'm pretty much always in. (I've been a proud Sonic fan since 1994, for instance.) I won't leave.
03: Favorite episodes/books/movies/etc.? AC, of course, and Crisis Core. So much Sephiroth and Zack squee!
04: Do you participate in this fandom (fanfiction, graphics, discussions)? Very much, as far as fanfics are concerned. I'm in a couple of graphics comms, too. But I don't really participate in fan discussions much.
05: Do you think that more people should get into this fandom? Of course! More intelligent people, that is. The fanbase has a reputation of being scary, which is partially why I stay away from discussions. There are some good forums where intelligent fans gather, however.

Yu-Gi-Oh!

01: What got you into this fandom in the first place? JP liked The Powerpuff Girls and he finally intrigued me enough to try watching when the WB used to air it. I saw many previews for YGO, and finally I was intrigued enough to try it. The episode was The Evil Spirit of the Ring. I was so hooked from that moment on.
02: Do you think you'll stay in this fandom or eventually move on? I'll never leave. Proud fan since 2002.
03: Favorite episodes/books/movies/etc.? The Evil Spirit of the Ring, the four-part saga where Marik tries to mind-control Joey, the Doom Arc
04: Do you participate in this fandom (fanfiction, graphics, discussions)? With fanfics, yes. Occasionally I make an icon or two (and I still use a couple of them, too), but here too, I mostly stay away from discussions. I'm not in any discussion comms for it, even though I was on Janime for a while. I tried some other forums too, and I have some issues with Kokoro no Naka.
05: Do you think that more people should get into this fandom? Intelligent people, yes! There's so much to love about the original YGO. It will always be better than any spin-offs. (Even though I do want to try 5Ds sometime.)

**ponders over fandoms.** YGO, WITWICS, and LOTR. (LOL, abbreviations....) And let's throw in Star Wars as a bonus. XD

**hugs the fandoms and Seph and Zack squee!** ^O^

You know, sometimes I liked it, sometimes I didn't. XD The animation style was weird, but the characters themselves were kind of cute and fun. And the main bad guy, Mojo Jojo, was hilarious. He used every repetition imaginable in his speech, saying the same thing over several different ways. The PPG themselves were fairly well-rounded; I had a hard time picking a favorite because they all had good and bad points. Usually I lean towards Blossom, the leader, as my favorite. ^^ She's kind of self-righteous sometimes, though, which is annoying.

As for the show's downsides.... Sometimes it was really sick. It used bathroom humor, sometimes in the most appalling ways. Like, the PPG were made from sugar and spice and everything nice, and Mojo Jojo created some mean boy counterparts once, and he used a real dog's tail (ewww!) and the ingredients from an unflushed toilet. **headdesk.** And there was one where a giant was on a rampage tearing the city apart because he'd lost his cat, and it was actually stuck in his backside. ._____. But that wasn't the usual, thankfully. Sometimes the show was downright funny and cute. And there was often sibling cuteness with the girls.

**hugs The Evil Spirit of the Ring.** Totally amazing, intense episode!

LOL @ abbreviations. Is there any of our fandoms that doesn't have an abbreviation? I've even seen Star Wars as SW (usually in conjunction with another title, though.) XD

Sure, those fandoms will be fun! X3

The girls do sound like they'd be cute! ^^ **but headdesks at the crude humor.** At least it wasn't all like that! Doesn't Mojo have a brain on top of his head, though? XD; **found that to be rather disturbing.** ....But then again, there was a show I used to watch a long time ago where the main bad guy was a brain, and I was just fine with it. XD

LOL. Good question!

Buttercup's pretty mean at times, but Bubbles is adorable. X3

Yeah, he does. XD; It happened during the same experiment that created the PPG, and it's supposed to show how smart he became. But it is kind of gross. Luckily, he usually hides it with a tall hat.

LOL. What show is that?

[identity profile] cskazaam.livejournal.com 2009-06-07 09:47 am (UTC)(link)
XD;

You know, I've been trying to remember. XD; It had good animation, from what I remember, and it involved the characters going through some kind of portals.... And there was a dog, too. ^^ But I can't remember the title! **will need to look it up!**

....Oh, wait a minute. One of the bad guys in TMNT was a brain. Was that what I was thinking of? I sure thought it was the other show.... Gah, now I'm confused. XD;

[identity profile] insaneladybug.livejournal.com 2009-06-07 09:53 am (UTC)(link)
Hmm, a dilemma. XD You mean the guy Shredder kept torturing until he was just a brain, a spine, and an eye? **headdesk.** Sick, sick, sick. He was a bad guy, but he never deserved that! **really kept wishing he would die so his misery would end.**

[identity profile] cskazaam.livejournal.com 2009-06-07 10:21 am (UTC)(link)
**blinks.** I don't *think* so.... The brain's name was Krang, and he had allied himself with Shredder. **looked it up to make sure.** I don't remember anything about the guy Shredder tortured! That sounds horrible. **shudders.** Was that actually in the old cartoons?

[identity profile] insaneladybug.livejournal.com 2009-06-08 07:39 am (UTC)(link)
Whoops, I forgot you haven't watched the new one. XD Yeah, the guy I mean is Baxter Stockman. **couldn't even remember his name last night.** I *love* and adore the new show much more than the old show, but that was one downside. Luckily, it isn't a major point all the way through it.
