Yay!
The powers-that-be have officially stated that Zack is one of Sephiroth's few friends. X3 Fanon is now canon!
And there's new Crisis Core scans out: http://www.adventchildren.net Lisa and I have been fangirling over them today. X3 And she's been making great icons, such as this one! **snickers.** The pic was too perfect for a Seph/Zack pairing joke.
This has been a really good week for Seph & Zack fans. XD **is still fangirling over the dialogue between them on what to do about killing Angeal.**
Sephiroth: Well, we just may have to fail in that.
Zack: Really?!
Sephiroth: Yes, really.
Zack: You're the best!! ^___^
And here's a blurb of Cloud and Seph talking, continuing from the previous S&M blurb.
It was several hours later when the door opened again, slowly. Cloud turned his head to look, blinking through the bleariness and the blond bangs. Then his eyes widened in shock.
It was Sephiroth who was standing there, still pale and weak as he leaned on the doorframe. His wings were absent, so apparently he had finally gotten the strength to undo the Safer form. And he was wearing clothes now, thank goodness---or at least, as much as he usually wore. He was sporting the dark pants along with the suspenders, but nothing else. He seemed to have some strange aversion to shirts.
The strange thought popped into the blond's head that he wondered if Sephiroth would be kicked out of a supermarket. "No shirt, no service." Even when he wore his coat, he always kept it open. And when they had been running the company, he had often worn a suit jacket with no shirt underneath. When he had actually worn a shirt, it almost always ended up being unbuttoned, sometimes, it seemed, out of habit.
"Don't you know how to knock?" Cloud mumbled.
"If you were asleep, that might have awakened you," Sephiroth answered flatly. "Although, not much has gotten through to you the last few days."
Cloud grunted. "What do you want?" he asked.
"Zack said you're getting better. I was curious."
"Well, now you've seen," Cloud retorted. "I don't look too much the worse for wear, do I?"
"No. But you still look ill."
Cloud rolled his eyes. "So do you," he said. "You'd better sit down before you fall down."
"I'm fine." Sephiroth remained standing.
Cloud hesitated. There was something he had been wondering since regaining consciousness, yet he was afraid of the answer. "I don't remember much about what happened after the battle with Jenova," he admitted, turning his gaze away. "I know you and I were laying on the grass for a while after you fell out of the sky. I probably said some stupid things that can't be counted as meaning anything." He thought he vaguely remembered that, at least. And whatever he had said, he had probably not wanted Sephiroth to hear it.
"I don't remember much either." Somehow, from the way Sephiroth said it, Cloud had the feeling that his nemesis recalled more than he was indicating.
"What do you remember?" Cloud persisted.
A pause. "You were just rambling incoherently. I could barely make any of it out."
"Yeah, well . . . what could you make out?"
"Is it that important?" Sephiroth sounded bored.
Cloud glowered down at the quilt. The last thing he wanted to admit was that Yes, it was, at least to him. The thought that he may have been vulnerable in front of his enemy was highly disconcerting. He hated it.
"Look, Cloud . . . I wasn't feeling well myself. I really couldn't concentrate on your mindless babbling."
"Okay, okay." Cloud crossed his arms on the comforter. Sephiroth was hiding something, but he was too weary to keep prying. And maybe it was better if he did not know. That was what he would continue to tell himself, anyway.
"Are you going to be staying?" he asked instead.
Sephiroth raised an eyebrow. "In this room, or in this house?"
"The house."
"It is my house," Sephiroth remarked matter-of-factly. And he had to admit, he did not have much desire left to wander around aimlessly. Maybe that was why he had returned several weeks earlier, before what Tifa now called the "statue crisis." He would not acknowledge that maybe he had been lonely. After all, it would be ridiculous to feel so lonely that one would gravitate to where everyone distrusted him. That was, of course, his own fault, but still it would not be the most pleasant of situations.
Anyway . . . now that Zack was alive and well, Sephiroth had even less desire to leave. He would much prefer to remain where his only friend happened to be, and Zack was probably intending to stay here. If Sephiroth left, then the brunet would be unhappy and would probably try to locate the other.
"Will it bother you if I stay, Cloud?"
The blond shrugged. "Like you said, it's your place. You've got a right to be here if you want." He sighed. It was a good question. What would he think of it? He and Sephiroth had been through so much, especially the last weeks. The statue crisis had taken a lot out of them both. Cloud had been forced to admit, at least to himself, how much it bothered him that he had not been able to save the other. Sephiroth had been weakened for many days after finally being liberated from his prison, and when he and Cloud had spoken then, they had agreed to a truce. Cloud had felt lighter since then. He did not know that he had fully forgiven the other, but at least he did not hate Sephiroth so much that it was eating away at his soul.
And he knew Zack would want Sephiroth to stay. . . .
"I think it would bother me worse if you left." He looked back up at the other's surprised green eyes. "I like to keep my friends close and my enemies closer." He hesitated. "But that's not really it."
"Oh?"
"I can't believe I'm saying this," Cloud grumbled. "I'm just . . . sick of you always going away and coming back. If you're going to stay, then just stay to begin with!"
"Heh. . . ." Sephiroth smirked slightly. "You may regret saying that, Cloud. I don't have any plans to leave. At all."
"Zack will be thrilled." Cloud leaned back into the pillows, hesitating. Well, today seemed to be the day to reveal his true feelings, he supposed. He might as well tell what else he had figured out. He looked back to the other.
" . . . I think now that one of the things I was really angry about was that you were given a second chance---you! After all that you did!---and Zack and Aerith weren't."
Sephiroth nodded slowly, crossing his arms as he leaned against the doorframe. "Honestly, I didn't understand it either," he replied. "It didn't seem fair or correct at all. Once, I asked Zack about it."
Cloud blinked. "What did he say?"
Sephiroth looked thoughtful. "He said that it was because of what I'd done that I needed a second chance, to try to get my life in order," he mused. "But I still thought that he and Aerith deserved it more than I did. I still do."
"And now they've gotten it," Cloud remarked, the awe obvious in his voice.
Sephiroth gazed off into the distance. When he had finally regained consciousness, and Zack had been gently brushing a damp cloth over his face and chest, he had been stunned. He remembered that Zack had been there before he had passed out, saying that he was alive again, but the silver-haired man had been certain that it would have to be a delusion. But then he had discovered that it was not, that it was real.
He came back to the present. "Are you going to continue running the company, Cloud?" he asked, changing the subject.
The blond shrugged, caught off guard. "I . . . I guess," he replied. "There's no guarantee we'll ever get back to Gaia."
Sephiroth nodded. "It would be best to hold on to this occupation, when it's been dropped into your lap."
"What about you?" Cloud found himself asking. "If you're staying, will you go back to work too?"
Sephiroth smirked grimly. "I'm not a businessman, Cloud. I'm more suited to the battlefield."
"I'm not a businessman, either," Cloud grumbled. "But it's like you said, it's been dropped in our laps. You don't even know anything about how the military works in this world, and if you tried to get in, you'd have to start from the bottom, which you probably wouldn't like.
"But you do know about business. We both do. At least, we made out okay for a while."
"Yes, but that was before we regained our memories," Sephiroth pointed out. "Could we even stand to be in the same room for one workday?"
Cloud muttered. He doubted it. "We'll never know if we don't try," he said in a monotone, glaring at the quilt.
Sephiroth smirked again, now amused. "Another truce?" he returned.
Cloud looked up. "We'll try it for a week," he said.
Sephiroth nodded. "Fair enough. And if we fail?"
Cloud shrugged. "Then we'll figure out what to do next."
Now, of course, I must write a scene of when Seph woke up and found Zack taking care of him. X3

Fun little blurb! I like that Seph won't tell Cloud what he said. It's cute~ And the 'statue crisis'. I love that, Daisy-san~ XD And I love the bit about Zack and Aerith deserving a second chance more than Seph. I can totally see Cloud yelling something like that at Sephiroth towards the end of T&D.
...Man, I'm starting to think you should just say "screw it" and bring them back to life for the real story. XD Maybe readers will think it's dumb, but it's fun this way, darnit! XD
And I was gonna try and read Lily Valley before bed, but it's so long... XD I'll start it tonight and definitely finish it tomorrow. ^_^
See you!

Oooh, maybe I can have that be an argument that Cloud and Seph have in T&D, like right before they fight Jenova.
XD I'm starting to think the same! I want them to liiiive!
I was very surprised, as usual, when I uploaded and saw the word count. XD And I'm already thinking of a sequel!
I'm also thinking of a fic where Zack is poisoned and Seph is so upset and ends up leaving the medical center, wandering around Midgar, and ends up at Aerith's church. And this is before he or Zack officially meet her during Crisis Core. And then I wanna do a KH fic where there's an explosion and Cloud is hurt in it, though I'm not sure what he, Zack, and Seph would be doing at a place where there's an explosion.... **ponders.**

Um, I have a bit of a growing obsession with Seph and Aerith meeting pre-Nibelheim, so I say go for it. :D
