Fanfic Blues
Apr. 29th, 2005 04:35 amAnnnnd FF.net's list of no-nos has increased to include songfics. --.--; Anyone who doesn't comply is in danger of having his or her account go byebye. When I politely emailed them to clarify what it said on the main page, they basically snapped at me. And they didn't bother to mention that songs/works that are considered "public domain" can still be shared. Unfortunately, I doubt that the songs I use are considered that. So down they've come. I kinda wanna keep my account, I must admit. I have a rather large fan following at FF.net, and it is a place where you can be pretty sure you'll get reviews. XD; I wish the staff would actually act like they care about the writers, though. I mean, it seems like they think they know everything and what's best and all that. They've altered so many things and haven't even asked for the members' opinions, like Side7 and LJ do. Maybe some things (like the rating system) had to be changed, but some other things wouldn't have had to have been.
Aubrie suggested I try MediaMiner.org as a possible backup archive. I'm testing one of my stories on them, but nothing much has happened yet. They're smaller than FF.net and it seems that their YGO stories are mostly just as bad as they are at FF.net. --.--; One upside, though: The staff seems really nice. I need to see how their Sailor Moon category is doing. If it's going well, maybe I'll post my Sailor Moon story there. The SM category at FF.net has been dying. It's hard for anyone to get reviews in that category. Hopefully it's different at MediaMiner. I really wanted to finish that durn story, but I'd probably only bother if a lot of people showed interest, since I have all my YGO projects to work on.
I do think I'll be able to write that story about Alister being poisoned by the Orichalcos. It really helped to do those RPs with Aubrie and Lizzie. I can take ideas from both of them. And I need to decide exactly how long the bikers' problems with Doom Reborn will continue, and whether I want it all to be contained in one very long story (of which Alister's problem is only a small part) or whether I want several short stories to cover the various disasters. I'm kinda leaning toward a big, multi-chapter escapade, but I have so many of those to work on already. XD; But I just don't know that I want this story of Alister's "illness" to be contained in a one-shot. Something like that, it seems, would be so much better if it was stretched out, like a season of YGO.
I wish I could make up my mind on whether to buy any YGO manga for myself. XD; I kinda want volumes #2 and #3, because those have the awesome Shadi stuff in them, but I'm not that sure about getting them because of some of the other stories within that I'm not that crazy about, such as Yami Y's Capsule Monster duel with Mokuba. I do not like manga Mokuba, at least not the pre-Duelist Kingdom version. o.o; And I'm not that crazy about the YGO Duelist mangas that are being released now. ^^; The stories . . . well . . . they just seemed better in the anime. And Mai's manga outfit . . . oh yikes. XD; If you thought her anime outfits were immodest, you should see the manga version. Good grief.
