This is a Homura icon that Aubrie made. She's really getting into that arc, and I'm pleased. X3
I've been digging in some of my grandma's boxes of things that we've been keeping here. There were some things that I know she would have wanted me to have that I've been trying to find. I located some of them, but not all. I did find a hilarious old book of hers called Stop Thief! that I've been eating up. It's a nonsensical kind of story in the vein of the movie Oscar, if anyone else has seen that. It all takes place during the course of a single day, where everything that could go wrong during a robbery attempt and a wedding, does. LOL. I was hoping that it would give me some ideas for writing about Baby Face and his gang, but it really doesn't, because the thief is nothing like Baby Face. XD; But it's a great read.
I've been worrying a bit on if I'm portraying Baby Face in character in my story, but I figure it's probably pretty close. He was reported in the episode as the "most vicious killer in America," and he has been shown to have a violent temper, so I'm guessing that Micky's attempt at impersonating him would leave him furious and burning with a desire for revenge. Also, I've had Tony and the others who were his henchmen betray him and start their own gang. I figure that's probably not OOC either, since Tony didn't act too loyal in the episode.
For the fic, I've been focusing not just on the Monkees, but on Baby Face and his gang. I just kinda like the sense of nostalgic film noir that gives me, plus I'm actually a little bit intrigued by the character of Baby Face. And Ruby's fun to write for. XD
Over the weekend I mused over the various qualities in the Monkees' characters that I especially like/that I think defines who they were, especially in the first season. This is what I put together:
Micky---Brilliant, hilarious, sarcastic, and generally brave and unselfish. (Gotta make an animated icon, once I get the proper screengrabs.)
Mike---Calm, cool, and collected; sometimes dorky and sometimes cynical.
Peter---Naive, innocent, sweet, and kind. (How else can one describe Peter's character?)
Davy---Chronic skirt-chaser, good with girls and kids, has strange ideas when it comes to compliments (cupcakes floating in sour cream?!)
Each one is willing to risk his own safety for any of the others, and they often get in trouble while trying to help other people.
I've listed them in the order of my preference. I really don't dislike any of them, but I do like certain ones best. Characters who become infatuated every two minutes tend to annoy me somewhat. XD;
