And I can't believe I haven't thought about this in ages, but The Monkees did an awesome cover of Paul Revere & the Raiders' Kicks in the eighties. When I remembered, I tried to find the CD at the library that had it, but the library doesn't have it anymore. Luckily, someone in the Monkeemen community was able to get it for me thanks to a friend uploading it. :) It's so good to hear it again! That song was made for Micky, I swear. He sounds pretty much the same on that song as he did in the sixties. I guess he has that kind of boyish voice that doesn't change much, and that's fine with me. XD
I mused on this at the Monkeemen community, but I'm going to talk about it briefly here as well. I've often thought about what friendships I'm the most interested in when it comes to the Monkees. Their friendship as a group is, of course, special and I like to focus on it, but for instance, I find Peter's relationships with the other Monkee characters to be highly fascinating. Micky and Peter is probably my favorite of all the possible friendships, followed closely by Davy and Peter, Mike and Peter, and Micky and Davy. For some reason, Mike and Davy and Micky and Mike have never interested me much. ^^; They either haven't interacted as much or I just hardly ever remember when they do.
I've also been trying to sort out the particular kinds of relationships Peter has with the others. With Mike, it's like Peter sees him as an elder brother/father figure. With Davy, Peter seems to see him as a younger brother. (Various things in episodes such as Success Story and Monkees in a Ghost Town brought me to this conclusion.) And with Micky, it's quite hard to pinpoint. Sometimes it seems like Micky sees Peter as a younger brother, what with how he teases and rags on Peter mercilessly. But I don't know that Peter sees Micky as an older brother. It's more like . . . how do I put it right? XD; Every time I try to say it to myself, it comes out wrong. It's like Peter sees Micky as someone of the same age, someone to pal around with. And there's very few things in the show that excites me as much as the two of them hanging out, like in Monkees in a Ghost Town and Monkees in Texas, and of course when they were both held hostage in Monkee Chow Mein.
