Forgot about this. XD Got this meme a few days ago from Joleen.

This is a twist on the Letter Meme: instead of coming up with ten items for a certain letter, you come up with five song titles for a certain letter and explain why you picked them. If interested then leave a comment, and I'll give you a letter. You post this blurb in your journal along with your list.

My letter is M.

1. My Immortal by Evanescence. Why did I pick it? Where to begin.... This is my favorite song, for many reasons. It's very hauntingly beautiful. And it's so vague. It could be about so many things. Originally I thought it was about being betrayed by someone, but Ninetalesuk helped me see that it could also refer to someone dying. Now, how I interpret it depends on my mood. There are personal experiences and people I think of both ways. I really want this song played at my funeral (and I know that sounds morbid).

2. Music of the Night by Michael Crawford. This is a beautiful, soothing piece from The Phantom of the Opera. I especially love it in its original Highlights version, in which a lot of the lyrics are different from the finished product. I think by and large, the original version is disliked, but the second verse and the first chorus of the Highlights version are my most favorite parts from either version.

Slowly, gently,
Night unfurls its splendor
Grasp it, sense it,
Tremulous and tender,
Hearing is believing,
Music is deceiving
Hard as lightning,
Soft as candlelight
Dare you trust
The music of the night?

Close your eyes,
For your eyes will only tell the truth
And the truth isn't what you want to see
In the dark it is easy to pretend
That the truth is what it ought to be

3. Morning Grace from Princess Tutu. Another very soothing song, and one of the most unique anime openings I've heard. (Fitting, though, since it's for one of the most unique animes I've seen.) It's like a waltz, and at one point they interject part of a famous classical piece, something from The Nutcracker, I think. It's very calming to listen to, and it makes me happy. I like to dance to it.

4. My Favorite Things from The Sound of Music. A song from another of the few musicals I like. I still don't understand why this song only plays on the radio at Christmastime. It's not a Christmas song! Anyway, I picked it because it starts with M! it's a fun, free sort of song, and it's good on my soprano voice.

5. Mother Earth by Within Temptation. Another song good for my range, and I typically play it when we're on the road. Within Temptation's music is great for car trips. And I love the etherael quality that this and many of their other songs have.

And my icon amuses me. XD The base is from manga volume #4, and the text, of course, refers to Bourbon's idiocy.
