I didn't sleep very well again. XD I woke up giggling about a random idea and then I had to get it written down. So I wrote some of it while talking to people before we went out, and now a little bit ago I finished and posted it. I also decided to put up the randomness I rattled off on Saturday morning thanks to Dagron and Claude.

I'm also writing a more serious blurb for the latest ManyCases1Truth challenge, Separation. I decided to write a little about Vodka and Jenever. I will probably also do a follow-up blurb about Gin and Vodka's first couple of months together and exactly what happened that got them to start to get along.

I got the Darkwing Duck boxset as a gift. X3 Love it! **pets it.** I'm going to get off soon and watch a bit of it, as well as some of the DC DVD I bought from F.Y.E. I was debating over the Knight Baron case or Kaitou Kid's intro, and well, as much as I wanted to see Knight Baron, Kaitou Kid won in the end. For those who don't know, he's my favorite character after Gin and Vodka.

I wanted the set of volumes 1 and 2, but this F.Y.E. didn't have it. So I need to order it off Discount Anime DVD, which is still charging only $17.99 for it. And even with S&H costs, it looks like it'll still be cheaper than retail stores around here sell it for. Only problem is, now I'm torn between buying it or the DC movie. I want both, but I don't have the money for both!

I also got The Open Door, of course. It doesn't measure up to Fallen by any means, but by appreciating it for its own merits it's quite good. It seems to me that some of the songs have a more ... Nightwish-ish quality in some of the lyrics. There's some very fascinating tracks on it.

I found a sheet music store in the mall. X3 I was highly pleased. And I noticed a song with the terribly amusing title of "My Give a Damn's Broken." Or was it "Busted"? Either way, I immediately thought of that hilarious icon Aubrie showed me about attempting to give a damn and failing. XD

I watched the Beauty and the Beet episode of Darkwing Duck, Bushroot's intro. XD His VA seemed a little flat at some points. I can't remember if that cleared up later or not. But it was a cute episode, and it made me wonder if anyone's ever written a fanfic where Darkwing is forced to see that Bushroot is not the same as the more heartless criminals such as NegaDuck. Darkwing sees everything in stark black and white. If there is such a well-written fic as described, I would love to read it. If not, I should make one!

And I watched Kaitou Kid's intro. I was surprised, initially the dub did not bother me, really. And I didn't mind the English version of Nazo. I thought they did a pretty good job with it, actually.

The voices themselves.... I liked Kogoro's best, to my surprise, and Ran's and Conan's/Shinichi's weren't too bad. I honestly don't care for Jerry Jewel's interpretation of Kaitou Kid, though. He makes him sound too deep, and that just doesn't seem right for the character. And Sonoko's was annoying, but at least it wasn't full-blown valley girl treatment, like Tomoyo unfairly got. And I didn't really like Dr. Agasa's German accent. I'm so used to him sounding deep.

I only watched part 1 in English. XD; Then I got confused because I couldn't get the audio to switch to Japanese when I hit the Audio button on my remote, and I had to double-check the box to make sure it had Japanese audio. Then I wondered if it only had "dubtitles" instead of subtitles, which I wasn't too pleased about, because the dub altered some important dialogue and made less sense. But I finally found that I had to go into Extras to switch on the Japanese audio and accompanying subtitles, so I became pleased.

I think the Case Closed DVDs are terrific! The pictures even change depending on the version, like when they show stuff written in English on papers in the English version, it's in Japanese on the Japanese version. Most of the time the pictures don't change depending on the version. FUNimation pays special attention to details like that, and that's great. Not all shows get such loving and precise treatment when they're dubbed and released.
