RPs, Fics, and Darkwing Duck
Dec. 9th, 2006 10:30 pmAubrie and I have been doing an intense RP where the villain Kennedy forces Gin and Vodka to work for him and bring Yaminah to him, by holding Sherry for collateral and injecting Vodka with a poison that will kill him within 24 hours. o.o Gin, furious at being Kennedy's marionnette, sets out with Vodka to bring in Yaminah in order to keep safe the people he cares about.
Gin is a selfish creep throughout most of the arc, and while I don't really like playing him that way, I believe that he was very IC for the situation, and that it was really the only way for him to grow. ^^ Sherry protests what they're doing, trying to sacrifice Yaminah for them, since Sherry's the only one who's ever lived outside of the Organization and has now come back to Gin with new views and ideals. Gin is surprised, but I don't know what he would have done and if he would have eventually listened to her. He isn't ready to believe that there is any other way out, though he doesn't trust Kennedy at all and wonders if Kennedy will even let Sherry go and give them the antidote if they do get Yaminah. In the end, Vermouth trades places with Yaminah (against Yaminah's will, and without Gin and Vodka's knowledge) and shoots Kennedy. XD So Kennedy's men have taken him away and that's a threat looming over them for the future.
Gin is indifferent to Yaminah overall, but he actually does not want to turn her in to Kennedy, where she'll suffer torture as Gin did when he was held captive by Portman. He feels, however, that it's either her or Sherry and Vodka, and he's not about to put her above the people he cares about. Which is a natural reaction, especially considering the environment Gin was raised in.
Gin is reminding me of Zagato from MKR in this arc, actually. XD Very intriguing indeed! Zagato is such a fascinating antagonist, and while I don't agree with either him or Gin, I feel sympathetic towards them because of the real motives behind their actions.
And I started writing a oneshot where Gin is accidentally shot on a mission. Vodka shoots the target, but the bullet goes through and hits Gin as well. He's seriously hurt, and Vodka is alarmed and distraught and feels very guilty. To add to the problems, Bourbon starts a rumor that Vodka deliberately shot Gin, which some people believe, since the bullet did come from Vodka's gun. Vodka finally snaps, yelling at Vermouth, and then at the people accusing him. **pats him and Gin.** When Gin wakes up, he's angry at the rumors going around, and comes to Vodka's defense.
As of now, most of this story is in my head. XD But I hope it won't take long to write! Then there's my annual YGO Christmas fic, which I'm still unsure about writing (it sounded good in my head, but as it comes on paper, I'm doubtful), and the gift fics I need to do. ^^
I was looking for the Darkwing Duck Christmas episode on YouTube and found someone who uploads episodes temporarily, like for a month or so, and she'll be putting up the Christmas one. ^^ Meanwhile, she has Clash Reunion, the one where Darkwing and Megavolt realize they went to high school together. XD It's one of the only later episodes that was really good and captured the flavor of the first episodes! I absolutely love it.
Then I decided to watch Just Us Justice Ducks on my DVD set. And man. XD; I know I used to like that one, but now I honestly wonder why I did. I now agree with the people who said that the Fearsome Five's members' personalities suffered greatly when they were all teamed up! And the heroes weren't that great, either. Stegmutt is annoying, and Gizmo Duck is a stuffed shirt hypocrite. I mean, much worse of one than Darkwing is. XD It's no wonder Darkwing can't stand him. (I like Neptunia, though. She's got attitude! XD And Morgana's sweet.)
Gizmo Duck: I will right any wrong, no matter how big or small!
Darkwing: There's an overdue library book over there!
Gizmo Duck: Where?! WHERE!?
His personality really went down the drain on Darkwing's show. If I remember right, he wasn't that bad on Duck Tales. On Darkwing Duck, he's just a cariacature of his former self.
One thing I remember disliking about him even when I was really little was at the part where he comes out of the sky and stomps on Megavolt's foot and stays there, all while blabbering on about resolving every injustice, every cruelty ... never even noticing that he himself is being rather cruel. XD; I have to say that I've always cheered for Megavolt when he then gets the better of Gizmo Duck.
I think each member of the Fearsome Five works best solo, though Megavolt and Quackerjack have had some amusing episodes together, and I kinda like the team of Bushroot and the Liquidator. But putting all four of them together, along with Negaduck ... nope, don't like it anymore. XD; I don't quite know how to explain it, except that some of them, especially Bushroot, seemed to become such generic villains. And we all surely know that Bushroot, by himself, is one of the most fascinating and misunderstood villains!
I love how his motives are usually initially good, such as wanting money to buy food for his plants, or just being lonely and wanting a wife. Of course Darkwing sees in stark B&W and never tries to understand that Bushroot really isn't hardcore, like Negaduck or Megavolt. I still would like to see a fanfic where Darkwing is forced to discover this!
EDIT: I knew I'd forget something I wanted to say! I wanted to mention that while I like Morgana a lot, I'm not sure I like the idea of introducing real magic to DWD. Before Morgana, the weird stuff that went on was more or less scientific (Bushroot's origins, Liquidator's, etc. etc.) or at least had some scientific basis. After real magic was introduced, I kinda think the quality of some episodes suffered. XD; Hot Spells, for instance, was like a cross between DWD, Faust, and Harry Potter, and I really could have done without the latter. XD; I don't really think it was right for the original concept of the show.
That being said, I wish I could find the episode again where Darkwing "dies." It was so morbid, and just up my alley, basically. Maybe I can request for that person to put it up.
