On September 30th, 1991, Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego? premiered on PBS. X3 17 years young today! ♥ I've already started to celebrate by watching more episodes and writing more of the crack crossover (in chronological order).
(For those unfamiliar with the show, Rockapella circa the third/fourth season: http://www.seanaltman.com/outcold.shtml From upper left and going clockwise, it's Barry, Sean, Elliott, and Scott.)
I can't remember if I was right there watching from the beginning, unfortunately. I wish I did know, because if so, I could say I've been watching it since I was four! Haha. All I remember is showing Mom a picture in the TV Guide of Greg with Rockapella (I *think*) and proclaiming that I was interested in the show because it was a detective show. XD Me and my detective shows. (That's why I was interested in Darkwing Duck, too.) I kinda think I showed the TV Guide picture before I actually watched it, and then when I watched it I promptly was hooked. And promptly crushed on Sean.... I learned a lot of geography from it, too. X3 I remember proudly reciting various countries I'd learned about from the show, and showing where they were on the world globe, and Mom saying that the show was a very good thing.
Mom got as big of a kick out of Rockapella as I did, too, so we had great fun watching the show together. X3 I've been showing her some of the clips I've been watching recently, such as the Shakespeare Surfin' USA parody, which I distinctly remember us both howling about when we first saw it. Good times.
... And does anyone else have the problem of wanting to pronounce the name "Sean" exactly as it looks, no matter how much you know otherwise? XD; I still don't understand that spelling. (Yes, I know it's Irish, I know the "ea" equals somethings different than it looks, etc.) But in my mind, I *still* think of the incorrect pronunciation every time I read it and I have to remind myself that it's pronounced "Shawn." Does not compute....
LOL, Rockapella's musical clues are so amusing. XD I saw one tonight in an episode **trying to remember which one** where they were leaning out the top half of the Chief's door again and crammed in tight. Sean kept snapping his fingers way too close to Elliott and Elliott kept watching, not distracted from singing but still looking unsettled anyway. And at the end of the song, Scott threw a random pom-pom at Sean. **snerk.** It's like The Monkees or something.
And speaking of them, I decided to go ahead and alter the thing in the crack crossover about time travel. XD After all, when I write The Monkees in the present day despite the fact that their show took place in the sixties, what's really so brain-bending about the fictitious Rockapella, circa second season Carmen, hanging out in 2008? I figured not much. And according to Scott in the fic, they're all highly trained professionals in detective work. Seph-tachi is a bit incredulous. XD
I wanna write a crack fic where they're on assignment in Austria and end up bringing back the goat they use in their Sound of Music parody. LOL.
