I knew this would happen....
Oct. 27th, 2008 03:13 amWhenever I make long entries that I've been neglecting, I forget something.
A seller on eBay actually had the Carmen Sandiego soundtrack for $15.99! New and sealed! Of course, this was a cassette version, but seriously, the CD goes for $50, if you're lucky! Usually it's over $100. So anyway, I saw that cassette a few days before my birthday and squeed. It was the only Carmen-era Rockapella album that was both new and in my price range, so I snapped it up early Saturday morning after my birthday. ♥ And it actually arrived the following Wednesday! Fast! It's amazing, of course. X3 Vintage Rockapella songs, with silly interludes in between ... so amusing! There's a running joke about them forgetting to mention Pierre, South Dakota in their Capital song. Scott screams at the end, "Oh no oh no! Pierre! Pierre! We forgot Pierre!" And then the mayor calls them to complain. LOL! (The real mayor at that time, not just an actor playing him.) And Greg has a hilarious bit as a subway announcer, complete with fake New York accent. XD
It's hard to pick a favorite song, but I do love Let's Get Away From It All so very much. There's an amusing interlude where the guys interact and discuss Elliott's shoes, and then Scott and Elliott scat-sing together. X3 Much fun. Ever since I was five, I've had the image of Elliott as Scott's best friend on the show, and things I see in the episodes now only make me think it all the more.
And it amuses me so much that they make a reference to Zombie Jamboree in Everything to Me. I love when singers reference other songs they've done! X3 In the last verse they sing "They were singing back to back/they said it was nothing but a zombie jamboree." ♥
Sean wrote the song Indiana for Scott to sing, and in the credits he lists Scott as "Native Hoosier Imagery Consultant." **snerk.**
I adore the more serious song My Home, too. X3 I've gotta learn to sing that.
**and snerks @ LJ's Halloween makeover.** Undead Journal ... nice. Zombie Jamboree!I'm so addicted to that song ... Rockapella's versions, anyway.
I have finally finished one of the Halloween fics I wanted to write for Carmen Sandiego. I think I have anyway, after several days of struggling with the last scene. XD; I have to open it again and see for sure. I have two others I want to write this week: the cemetery fic (which I posted a blurb for) and one involving a hotel and the ghost of a bride who was killed there. Can I do it, when I had so much trouble with the end scene of the other fic? It's possible, because that fic was more serious (probably moreso than even Walk Like An Egyptian), and these other two will be a bit more light-hearted (in spite of Elliott's mishap in the cemetery fic). But they'll be nice and creepy, too. I've been reading my book of reported ghost sightings in North America for inspiration. (Long story short, I bought it to trade with someone years ago, but she got swamped with school and the trade didn't happen and so I still have the book. Oh well, I quite enjoy it, when I'm in the mood. X3)
