It was a zombie jamboree...
Nov. 24th, 2008 11:02 amI have heard five or six versions of Rockapella's Zombie Jamboree, and still nothing can ever top the version they did live on Carmen Sandiego. ♥ Maybe it's because I have the visuals to go with it and they're just so *fun.*
I've seen/heard:
-The Carmen Sandiego performance
-The Spike Lee Do It A Capella performance
EDIT: -The Tonight Show performance, as pointed out by Crystal Rose.... **headdesks for not including it....**
-OH! And the version from that early 1991 concert!!
-The version from (I think) From N.Y.
-The version from Primer
-The version from their Bethlehem, PA concert in 2000
-The version from one of their concert CDs (now I'm not sure whether it was In Concert or Live in Japan....)
-I've also heard the XRP version, with altered lyrics (that I really don't care for)
I just watched the Carmen Sandiego version six times in a row. Sheer nostalgia! I was just so enchanted by that when I was five. My excitement and enthusiasm for it hasn't diminished. So many classic bits: Sean's zombie glasses and later, the eyes, Scott making like a zombie and grabbing him during the first chorus, the "back to back", the choreography of the third verse, and of course the limbo!
My second favorite, honestly, would probably have to be the Spike Lee version. That show launched them to stardom and caught the attention of the people making the Carmen show. And the choreography and costumes are again so fun! LOL @ them pretending to be tough punks at the beginning!
Of the album-only versions I've heard, I think I like the From N.Y. one the best. X3
