It starts with something simple....

I just wanted to double-check where each borough of NYC is located. Then I needed to try to find locations of bridges for Manhattan to the Bronx. So I ended up reading about the Bronx and the Harlem River. Of course, then I wanted to learn more about the Woodlawn Cemetery (which is so HUGE, ohmygosh.... 400 acres?! And the biggest cemetery I've seen is 250 acres, which definitely isn't anything to sneeze at, either). Then I started looking at other cemeteries in NYC. Then I wandered back to the Bronx page, read about boroughs, and ended up reading about, of all things, a Bronx cheer = blowing a raspberry. LOL.

And I remember I didn't read about Long Island, which I was going to do.... I even ended up skimming the page for Yonkers. XD

Of course, the original thing I researched ended up meriting only a few little lines in my chapter. But it's worth it to get the little details right.

Though the bridge ended up unnamed, because I wasn't sure which one it would be....

At least this time I actually finished the chapter and posted it. XD Sometimes my detours go on so long, the chapters/fics don't get posted until I come on again.
