Fic Woes

One thing I've discovered: few things can wear you out as much as struggling to work on a fic that doesn't want to be worked on. XD; **trying and trying to figure out something to do for the Disguise prompt at yugioh_contest and nothing really concrete is coming.** I started writing a first person rant of Marik's, telling Yugi that he'll be defeated/the Pharaoh will be killed/etc. because of his slew of disguises. Mentions are made of his Namu plans and of Rishid pretending to be Marik. I'm not that happy with it.

There's the possibility of doing something using Masquerade from Phantom of the Opera as a starting point, and playing on the fact that everything in that song has a double meaning. If I did that, I'd probably be doing something with Duke and his facades. But I feel like I've covered that extensively!

I could do the YGO cast at a masquerade ball. XD; But what would be the plot beyond that?! And I'd have to figure out what each one would dress as, which could be hard.

I could do Dartz in disguise in Egypt and seeing Atem riding after the mad Thief King with Slifer. Or I could do Siegfried and Leon under assumed names at the Grand Prix, but I feel about as blah about those as I do about this Marik rant. It just feels like there's nothing really new I can say. Same with Alister in disguise as Pegasus or something like that.

When things like this happen, I take comfort in knowing that you're not a real writer unless you've experienced moments of frustration like this. A real writer never has it easy all the time.

... I may have an idea now about Bakura, suggested by Kaze. X3 I'll see if I can get it to work. I'm still interested in the masquerade ball idea, too, but I really can't imagine what kind of plot it could have. I've kind of been wanting to do something Seto/Téa, but Seto would never go to a masquerade ball! XD;
