Further musings on ages.
Feb. 27th, 2011 05:19 amI don't know; the more Monkees episodes I watch, the more confused I am about their characters' ages. I saw the pilot episode the other day, involving a girl wanting The Monkees to play at her sixteenth birthday party. I'd forgotten that she and Davy started going out. And honestly, I would find it very creepy for him to be going out with a fifteen-year-old girl if he wasn't close to her in age. I'm starting to wonder if he's 17 at the youngest, and maybe 18 at the oldest.
Of course, the pilot isn't really a good judge of anything. So many things were different in it, including the addition of the record store manager (who calls Mike "Wool Hat") and the different layout of the Pad. Still, even if one dismisses the pilot, it's really hard to ignore all the episodes that call The Monkees "teenagers." We know Mike's character isn't one, since he said he's 21, but I have to wonder if all the others are.
Maybe some things are better left unpondered over, since there will likely not be any satisfactory answers.
Now if I could just feel that this fic is done.
