And there it goes.
Mar. 20th, 2011 12:49 amThe second chapter of the house fic is up at
monkeesfic. I've also written a bit into chapter 3. I don't think this is going to be too long overall. But I hope it will be sufficiently creepy. I think Kolchak has been a partial inspiration in wanting to write this supernatural thing. I'm hoping to have it done for Amnesty Day; it's being written with the
31_days's theme Like a haunted house, life is full of horrors in mind.
I like to give Monkees fics titles derived from their songs' lyrics when I can. But this fic seemed to insist on being titled The House of the Setting Sun (of course, based on The House of the Rising Sun). None of the Monkees lyrics I looked at sounded right. So I finally caved in and let the story be named what it wanted. I chose Setting Sun instead of Rising Sun because of the emphasis on death and lost souls. And also because of Rising Sun sometimes being a term for a house of prostitution, which this house is most definitely not.
Now if I can just figure out how the curse on the house should be broken....
