I'm just about wrapping up my theme set for May. Now I just need to write the three remaining themes for Amnesty Day. I had intended to buckle down and concentrate fully on my mystery story The Denying Detective once I had all of them done.
But June's
31_days themes have just been announced, and gah! They're all Tolkien! They're wonderful! And they would fit so perfectly with the fic I wanted to do where Flo enacts her plot! I could use the June set to experiment with the idea. Maybe I would eventually use the scenes I'd get from it to be in the story proper, if I write it.
So it looks like I'll be plunging from one theme set directly into another. I can't pass up these gems. I'm not sure if I'll manage to write one for every day, but I hope I can, because they all fit!
I wish there were more comms like
31_days. I love that there are no claims and you can write for anything you want, but there's always a prompt. I haven't written for any other prompt comms in quite some time, because I don't like being tied down to one claim.
And I've been pondering off and on about this Flo fic. I was idly considering making a trailer again. I keep thinking the song Lux Aeterna would be perfect for this one.
Originally I was going to call the fic Requiem for a Dream (or rather, The Case of the Requiem for a Dream), but after learning what that movie is actually about I'm no longer sure I'd want to. Pity; it's such an amazing title.
Also, a thought occurred to me and I wondered if I should include it in that story. No one knows why Hamilton and Paul remembered when no one else did. Hamilton speculated on it a bit in the epilogue, even wondering if it was possible that their memories had deliberately been untouched so that they could try to rescue the others. He wondered if it was God's counteraction to Vivalene's spell.
Since Flo has been several steps ahead of Vivalene all this time, I wonder if it's possible that she deliberately arranged for Hamilton and Paul to remember because she wanted Vivalene's plan defeated. She wanted Vivalene completely out of the way, and Heyes and Vann too, so that she would have the Box all to herself.
It's highly possible, and yet I'm not sure if I would want to go that route, because I like the idea that Hamilton and Paul were spared by the forces of good instead of that they remembered only because they were pawns in the hands of evil.
Thoughts?
