Got out the one DVD I have of Sailor Moon Classic, which is dub episodes. I watched the one with Luna and the hefty tomcat. That was hilarious, especially Zoisite's disasters tracking the cats through the sewer. I laughed so hard when s/he screamed at discovering the wall of rats and they chased her/him. Normally I might have been more alarmed/repulsed, but when it was Zoisite, I rather delighted in the misfortune, since s/he wasn't seriously hurt by it. And when Luna exclaimed that Zoisite wouldn't be able to follow them through the tiny tunnel and then Zoisite sailed right in, not having a bit of trouble whereas the big cat had all kinds of trouble fitting in ... LOL.
Zoisite is my least favorite of the Shitennou characters, mainly because of her/his plotting against Nephrite. What a horrid person! It's interesting how vastly different the character was in the manga, getting upset when Nephrite was killed instead of actively trying to bring it about. I'm trying to incorporate both versions of Zoisite in the story and have him highly distraught when he remembers how close they were during the Silver Millennium and what he did during the Dark Kingdom era.
And I must say, one of the biggest struggles in writing this Sailor Moon fic is remembering not to call Zoisite by feminine pronouns. The dub really engrained in me this idea of anime Zoisite being female. I think her voice actress was one of the best in the dub cast and it is sorely difficult to have the character be male in the story. But since this new version follows the Japanese version instead of the dub, Zoisite must be male.
Which does nothing to stop me calling Zoisite "her" and "she" in my head.
Oh dub, look what you've done.
