Well, this is deja vu. Just like when for a period of time around January I became excited by the idea of getting Rainbow Dash. That lasted until she did something really rude on the show again, after having shown such prior improvements. Then my interest in having the plushie dropped dramatically.
In the morning I was thinking of adding The Journal of the Two Sisters to my Christmas list. Then I read that Amy Keating Rogers was the one who wrote it. I know she's generally praised for her handling of the characters, but she wrote one of the episodes that had something in it that upset me, so suddenly I wasn't so sure I wanted the book on my Christmas list. I still want to read it, but maybe not yet.
The episode in question is Filli Vanilli, the one where Pinkie Pie keeps being so insensitive of Fluttershy and scaring her. Now, some people argue that Pinkie is so enthusiastic that she can be insensitive, and I agree. But, and here's the key, NOT with Fluttershy! Pinkie showed great thoughtfulness towards Fluttershy's sensitive nature in episode 5, even though at the same time she couldn't seem to understand that she was totally intruding on Rainbow Dash's time with her old friend. I can't believe she would forget herself and treat Fluttershy insensitively, so that episode still upsets me (and others who feel the same).
But that started me thinking about all the reasons I don't like Pinkie Pie a whole lot, including her shows of insensitivity on many occasions. Really, sometimes it seems like Fluttershy is the one exception to the rule (and apparently Rogers didn't want even that).
With Twilight, it's so easy for me to love her in spite of her faults because I'm so nuts about her and feel a definite kinship with her. But when it comes to characters I don't like as much and can't relate to very well, it's very difficult sometimes. I'm trying to think of all the times I really liked Pinkie, such as when she was considerate of Fluttershy or the Cheese Sandwich episode or the Maud Pie episode, but at the moment I'm confused again and don't know if I want the Pinkie plush.
I suppose I'll wait to decide on what to do until I can back there again, which will hopefully be tomorrow. But I wonder what I'll do if I decide I want the Hello Kitty more, since I'm not sure they'll get any more of the pure white kind in. I'll ask, and maybe if they're not planning to, I'd decide to get the 40th anniversary sprinkles edition. I'd prefer that over the tie-dye one. Or I could just get the Wal-Mart one, but I liked the Build-a-Bear's quality better.
