Care Bears

So I was out shopping yesterday and looking for Sunset Shimmer. I didn't find her, of course, and I won't be surprised if it's August before she turns up here. Our Wal-Marts are so lazy.

(Curiously enough, though, they do have the most recent figures and many of the new dolls. Why does it have to take forever to get the plushies?)

I did see Care Bear plushies. I actually like the newer styles better than the old styles for Care Bears, even though for My Little Ponies it's usually the opposite. For a long time I've liked a deep purple Care Bear and casually thought of maybe buying him sometime, but was aggravated to not know the price. I didn't like to take him to a clerk and ask for the price unless it was a point where I was definitely decided on buying him. Now I think I located the price of those biggest plushies and they're only $20!

What's weird is that there are medium plushies for $17.95. And you can get plushies about twice that size for only $2 more! The medium ones come with DVDs, though, so I imagine that's what pushes their price up.

I adore multi-colored things, which is how I got into Ponies and Trolls. I casually liked the Care Bears, but I've never seen any of their media and I'm not sure I could stomach the cheesiness of it (although the second 1980s movie actually sounded pretty dark, wow. I might have to check that one out). I have two cute books about them, though, and a little figure of the turquoise bear, whose name is apparently Wish Bear. I saw a small plushie of her yesterday and almost might have bought her, but then I saw one foot was dirty. Ugh! If I'm buying something new, I kind of expect it to look new!

(Also, I was surprised to learn that she's a girl. All through my childhood with the little figure, I thought she was a boy.)

The fur on the smallest plushies is amazing. It's almost a velvety or suede softness. Those are only $7.95 and I definitely think I'll get a couple of those sometime. I am just in love with the feel of the soft.

The bigger ones have a different fur type that's like my Hello Kitty. They seem to be very cuddly. I saw the powder blue bear at one of the Wal-Marts and was in love with the color. Unfortunately, that one seemed to have had an accident with the coloring and some of it had gotten on the white muzzle. **headdesk.** I couldn't have bought one of the biggest ones yesterday anyway, but that's the first time I've seen the powder blue bear, so I'm not sure I'm very confident that I'll see another copy of him if I have the money later and want to get one.

The ones I'm most interested in are the powder blue one (Bedtime Bear), the turquoise one (Wish Bear), and the dark blue one (Grumpy Bear). And I still like the purple one too, of course. I also thought the pink one was very pretty. I love all the shades of blue, and I also like that there is a cynical bear. That helps to counteract all of the cheesiness. And cynical characters who are really sensitive and sweet deep down? Love.
