One thing I forgot to mention about Ellery Queen: the best thing about it, aside from the theme song, is David Wayne's grouchy father character and the squeeable father-son banter between him and Ellery. It's totally worth seeing the whole series for that!

I also saw some more of Charlie's Angels again recently, as I forgot to adjust the Netflix queue and ended up with the disc that has Simon's episode. I've seen it before, but I'd had it on the queue to show Mom. I wasn't fully sure how she'd take the episode's theme of child abuse, though, so I kept pushing it back on the queue. But it went off alright, I got many pictures of Simon, and there was an awesome episode on the disc with a supernatural plot. It was just great, a perfect Halloween treat, and spotlighted everything I love about 1970s television. It made me wish there had been other episodes from the series with supernatural themes. Looking over the episode guide, I can't find any others, although there's one where they pose as psychics.

I added several discs to the Netflix queue. Every time I've seen the series, it's cheesy but wonderful, and I always end up longing to see more. Shows from the 1950s through the 1980s all had their own special brands of cheesiness, and I particularly love the flavor of 1970s cheese. There were a lot of fun adventure/crime series that were cheesy but nice, with high morals, lots of intense goings-on, and generally happy endings. By the 1980s, TV was really starting to lose its innocence, but there were still some great, basically clean gems such as Scarecrow and Mrs. King, Riptide, Knight Rider, and Hart to Hart.

I also added a lot of Get Smart discs, mostly from the earlier seasons. I like the show better prior to season 4, where Crystal so accurately stated that the characters started to become caricatures of themselves. But I have one other season 4 disc on the queue, as I want to see the Ironside parody episode. And someday I'd kind of like to buy season 5 so I could own gems like the Victor Buono episode, the two-parter with Hedley Mattingly, and the second H.M. episode. (Well, I did record H.M.'s off the TV, but I don't have those others. I must keep a close watch on MeTV for them and hope they're uncut.)
