So yesterday morning I found the Victor Buono episode of I Spy on YouTube. I'd looked there for the episodes before and didn't find them, so I hadn't thought to try again until then. It's called Turkish Delight, and Victor was totally a delight. He had much screentime and I lapped it up.
Actually, I found the whole episode a delight ... aside from my stomach turning every time Bill Cosby was onscreen. Sigh. I can separate actor and character, though; I still love Alexander Scott, and when I allowed myself to get wrapped up in the episode and forget reality, I kind of fangirled and squeed over him a bit. He is pretty much Bill Cosby as I once believed the man actually was. And since he's a fictional character, I can happily picture him as really being what we see, instead of having sick secrets like his actor.
Honestly, I still kind of want to buy the series. I would like to own uncut copies of the episodes with darlings guest-starring, but I'd also like to fully explore this fun spy series. I hadn't had the chance to see much of it when this whole awful stuff started coming out, and I don't like reality spoiling what is still really a great series. Maybe I won't be able to continue feeling this way, but I kind of hope I can. I need more good, clean spy shows in my life. There can never be too many of them.
