Finally, I have finished chapter 8 of the thriller fic. It was giving me some trouble, but I brought it to an intense conclusion. I went right into chapter 9, and I thoroughly hope it will not give me the same level of trouble.

There seems to be two high school newspapers for Brooklyn Heights High on The Patty Duke Show. The first one is the Clarion, of which Alfred indicated he is the managing editor. The second is the Bugle, which Patty edited. Either the writers messed up or there was an untold story going on. Both newspapers were recurring; one wasn't just a one-time mention.

Maybe Alfred had to quit as editor of the Clarion and the next editor had its name changed to the Bugle. With the new editor came a new format, one that wasn't well-accepted by the majority of the students. During that time, Philip became part of the staff (the poetry editor, according to him). The Bugle's managing editor was eventually let go and Patty was put in charge to see if she could generate more reader interest.

I originally hadn't remembered about Philip and thought that was Alfred, probably because of remembering Alfred working on the Clarion. I'm still trying to fully determine Philip's personality. He seems a little like a combination of all three of the others. He has George's innocence, Alan's quietness, and Alfred's enthusiasm when he likes something.

Alfred may appear in the episode with Philip. During a scene in the cafeteria, you can see Jeff Siggins sitting at a table in the background, wearing what looks like a different top than Philip.

Also, in one scene of the school play episode, "Eros" wears the thick-striped sweater/jacket thing that Alfred wore. Of course, canonically I doubt anything was meant by it (I wonder if minor actors/extras just wear their own clothes instead of having a wardrobe provided?), but I use it to identify Alfred in several uncredited appearances. Eros just looks on during the ridiculous climax, however, never even seeming to crack a smile. Either Alfred is really good at playing Eros and takes acting seriously and wasn't going to grin, let alone make a wisecrack, or Eros is played by one of the other characters, as I'd first surmised.

I don't know, though; he acted rather quiet and serious in all of his scenes, which really sounds more like Alan. Alfred always seems to be peppy. Maybe I can explain it as that it's Alan and they just share some of their clothes, since I have them as cousins.

Jeff Siggins and John C. Attle seem to be the extras they call on the most, at least in the first season. When they need someone to help fill out a certain scene/episode, they often pick one or both of them. I hope that continues to be true in the second season. I like them both, though of course Jeff is my favorite.

There's even less known about John C. Attle than Jeff. I think the only credits listed for him on IMDB are for The Patty Duke Show. And there isn't even a birthdate, while there is one for Jeff. Jeff was in several low-budget films in the sixties and seventies, in addition to his appearances on The Patty Duke Show and several other TV shows. I wonder what's happened to both of those guys.
