Word did it to me again! **kicks it!** I was actually hoping it was Avast!, rather than Word itself messing up. The methods for trying to correct Word borking sound so complicated.

Some people mentioned actually having to uninstall Avast! altogether to make it stop. I wonder if I should try that. I hate to, because the reinstalling would be such a mega pain. And if it's really Word doing it after all, it wouldn't do any good anyway. I thought that if Avast! was responsible, following the directions in that thread would make it work.

Then I worry a little wondering if I could have picked up a virus, but nothing is acting strange except Word, and then the browser keeps complaining about unresponsive scripts every time I come to post here now. I don't think that was happening before Avast! updated, either.

Maybe I should switch to WordPerfect for a while and see if anything weird happens. The original reason I switched to Wordpad and Word was actually not because WordPerfect takes more memory, but because WordPerfect was what I'd always used and I was curious to "walk on the wild side" and try something different. I'm not even sure now that WordPerfect takes a lot of memory, as the Task Manager seems to indicate that Word takes up more.
