I took 51 screencaps from the Knight Rider episode. XD; I was surprised, but eh. There were lots of ones I wanted. Jimmy did a lot of those classic expressions throughout the episode. I have them all up on the site now.

And I drew a picture earlier of Baby Face holding an injured Ruby and looking furious, and it inspired the following blurb, which will probably become the beginning for that story that will eventually involve the balcony fiasco. Comments are appreciated!

Baby Face was headed to Ruby's apartment as soon as he received the phone call for help. His hazel eyes burned with malice when he recalled the sounds he had heard in the background---that of glass and pottery being shattered and a lecherous voice calling Ruby a foul name. She had feared for a couple of weeks that she was being spied on, but Baby Face had thought it was foolishness. Now Ruby was paying the price for his opinion.

"Baby Face, there's someone right outside!" she exclaimed, and he could hear the terror in her voice. "I hear him on the balcony!"

"It's probably just the wind," he answered in an annoyed tone. He was busy, and did not wish to be bothered with Ruby's paranoia. After all, he could not think of why anyone would especially go after her at this point.

"It's not the wind," she retorted, but before she could say anything further on the matter, the glass doors were broken and she was screaming.

Now she had Baby Face's attention. "Hey, what's going on there?!" he demanded. That was when he heard the treacherous male voice in the background.

"Baby Face, he's right in here with me!" Following this alarming statement, Ruby began calling out things that Baby Face could not decipher. She was obviously terrified, and trying to get away from whoever had intruded. He could hear more things breaking and then the phone being dropped. Ruby screamed again, as if she had been grabbed, and Baby Face did not wait to hear more. Immediately he slammed the receiver down on the table, ordered Harry to hold it in case she managed to get to the phone again, and then left with Tony and Vince in tow.

Now he was standing in front of her apartment door. He had gone ahead of the others as soon as they had arrived, and he could hear the commotion still going on inside. Even though the person was apparently trying to muffle the sounds of the fight, he was not doing a very good job. But Ruby was no longer screaming, so either she had been silenced or else she was too terrified to make any more noise. Baby Face did not bother to think about which possibility it was. He kicked the door in and rushed into the topsy-turvy living room. It only took him a minute to see that Ruby was not there and that the apartment's occupants were in the bedroom down the hall.

Immediately he ran through the short corridor and into the other room, where Ruby was laying on the floor, still struggling desperately against the intruder---who was forcing her to continue laying there while he viciously struck her. She had already been badly beaten, as he could see from the cuts and bruises over her body, and her dress was outrageously torn---with half the skirt removed so as to bring it well above her knees and the right strap missing. It was obvious what the man was intending to do after he finished pounding her poor body with his fists and cutting her with the various pieces of broken glass strewn around the room.

Baby Face's rage boiled over. In the next second he sprang on the other man, ripping him away from Ruby and throwing him into the opposite wall. Then, before the startled monster could get up, the gangster was upon him, beating him mercilessly as he called him every foul name that came to his mind. He did not see or hear anything but the intruder desperately fighting back and screaming in pain, and it pleased him every time he heard a cry. "Killing's too good for scum like you," he hissed as they tumbled across the floor, "but it's the only way I'll never have to look at you again!" He began hitting him once more, relishing the screams but not stopping when they did due to his victim falling unconscious. He was lost in his own world of revenge and hatred, until he was abruptly dragged back.

"Let me go!" he snapped furiously as he fought against his captors.

"Not until you calm down," Tony growled.

"You nearly killed him, Baby Face!" Vince exclaimed.

"Well, that's what I'm trying to do!" Baby Face retorted, kicking back at them but missing. "Do you know what he was going to do to her?!"

Tony held on tightly. "We need him alive right now," he pointed out. "Maybe this wasn't just your average case of a stalker wanting to satisfy his greedy pleasures. We need him to talk and tell us!" His voice lowered. "Besides, Ruby needs you right now. He really roughed her up."

Baby Face breathed heavily, his fury still there but diminishing slightly. Tony was right. If the person had been sent by one of their enemies, they needed to know---if it was possible to make him talk. And Ruby . . . Ruby was so badly hurt. . . . He clenched his fists, nearly drawing blood.

"Alright," he said at last, his voice dark and cold, "he lives---for now. Now let go of me!" Without waiting for Tony and Vince to react, he shoved them both back and stormed back over to where Ruby was still laying on the floor. Seeing her in that condition, so frail and helpless and pale, made him want to turn right around and finish the job he had started. But he forced himself to remain where he was and to kneel down beside her. He was not certain if she was conscious, as her eyes were closed. But as soon as he tried to lean over to better examine her, she came to life---panic-stricken and believing that he was the other man returning.

"Stop!" she screamed, weakly pushing him back. "Get away!" She continued to flail pitifully, trying to get away from him until he forcefully grabbed her wrists and made her hold still.

"For crying out loud!" he yelled in frustration. "It's me! It's not him! Get a grip on yourself! You're just hurting yourself worse!"

Ruby stared up at him, the confusion finally lifting as she saw that it was, indeed, her Baby Face who was there and not the man who had been trying to violate her purity. Sobbing, she reached up and threw her arms around his neck as she rose up and tightly clung to him. "I was so scared," she whispered as she trembled. "I was trying so hard to fight him . . . and it just wasn't good enough! He kept coming at me. . . ." She shut her eyes as tears emerged. "I hit him with a vase and got him cut, but that only got him more mad. . . ."

Baby Face was at a loss for what to do. As he watched her continue to snuggle him as if he was her refuge, he wondered whether to push her away, let her stay as she was, or if he should embrace her and reassure her in his own way that everything was fine now and that she was safe. But of course, he did not believe that everything was fine. The treacherous creature was still alive and Ruby was badly hurt, and even though he knew that there were plenty of other ways that things could be worse, they seemed bad enough as they were.

At last he took hold of her arms and took them away from his neck as he pushed her back. "Look, you're hurt," he growled, not knowing or caring how to be comforting at this point. "Tony and I need to figure out just how badly hurt you got---and these cuts need to be taken care of."

"I'm okay, Baby Face," she replied softly, already upset with herself over losing control. She knew how much he hated it when that happened. It always made him feel helpless, and then he would snap at her without actually meaning to seem angry.

He muttered curses and oaths, steadying her by putting an arm around her shoulders when it became apparent that she was too weakened to sit up straight. "You're not okay!" he cried. "Quit saying stuff like that because you think it'll keep me from worrying! I'm not worried, so cut it out!" Gently, and without quite knowing why he was doing it, he placed his other hand under her knees and lifted her up onto his lap. "Just . . . rest or something," he grumbled as he held her.

She slumped against him, her head falling onto his shoulder. "I really am okay, Baby Face," she said quietly, weakly smiling. "You came and helped me. You got him away before . . ." She trailed off, and when he looked down at her, he saw that she had passed out. He cursed again.

He held her for a brief moment before he demanded that Tony come and assist with tending to her wounds. As they worked, he wondered about his feelings over the matter. He had been so angry upon finding her defenseless against the stranger's assault, but it seemed to him that it was not just because it disgusted him to see men preying on poor, innocent victims when they were feeling lustful. He knew that he had a certain fondness for Ruby, but the thought occurred to him that possibly it was more than that. Possibly, he loved her and he did not want harm to come to her because of that. But then he scoffed at the idea. He did not love anyone. He never had and he never would. He did not even know how to love, so how could he?

And yet, if he truly did not know how to love, how would he know whether he loved anyway or not?

He swore at the annoying voice in his head that was asking the questions before putting his full attention back to the task at hand.
