3. Ever been in a near-death experience? Nope!
4. Name an obvious quality you have Eh.... I dunno about anything being extremely obvious. XD; I like to write?
5. Name a celebrity you would marry What a superficial question. XD; I wouldn't marry any celebrity. I don't even know much of anything about any of them!

7. Has anyone ever said you look like a celebrity? I don't think so....
8. Do you wear a watch? Same as Lady of the Thread.... I only wear one outside of the house. Inside, it seems pointless.
9. Do you have any piercings? Nope. I'm not a big earring fan. I like to look at them, but wearing them ... eh. XD; I don't really see the point of drilling holes in your ears to hang jewelry on.
10. Any tattoos? Nooo.
11. Do you like pain? I'm not a masochist! .... Though, sometimes I like a good cry, and sometimes I go looking for sad things, like songs. XD; Not to mention I'm obsessed with death in certain forms, especially in writing or in TV shows/movies.
12. Do you like to shop? I hate clothes shopping, with the exception of character shirts. I love shopping for DVDs, CDs, and other random odds-and-ends.
13. What was the last thing you paid for with cash? Can't remember. A Detective Conan manga, I think, about a month ago exactly.
14. What was the last thing you paid for with your credit card? Like Lady of the Thread, no credit card. Just a debit card, which I'm happy with. And I don't remember offhand. I think it was the DVDs that Lizzie wanted from megaanimedvd.com, when I threw in one for myself as well. That was a few weeks ago.
15. Who was the last person you talked to on the phone? Dad. I hate talking on the phone.
16. What is on your desktop background? An old wallpaper I made of the bikers using the Open Up Your Mind song from Gensomaden Saiyuki.
17. What is the background on your cellphone? I don't have a cellphone. I don't like talking on the phone, so what would be the purpose of spending lots of money to get a fancy one? My dad has a cellphone, for practical use only, and if I had the spare money I might get one for the same reason, but it wouldn't see a lot of use.
18. Do you like redheads? Sure! Red hair is pretty.
19. Do you know any twins? Used to, yes! They were a couple of my best childhood friends, but we've fallen out of touch. (Why do I have the creepy feeling that once I answered this question "No" on a different quiz?)
20. Do you have any weird relatives? I'm the weird relative! J/K. XD Seriously, though, I imagine I could freak out my family a good deal.
21. Last movie you watched? Detective Conan: The Countdown to Heaven.
22. Last book you read? Just finished Rebecca by Daphne Du Maurier. Oh, how I love gothic romance.

Yeah, I seemed to remember that you couldn't cook. XD Which is why making a cake would definitely be an adventure! **imagines the kitchen ending up looking like it did when Abracham tried to cook.**

Now I'm not that bad. LOL I have yet to blow anything up as I recall. I've come close, but nothing has gone beyond the stove/microwave/toaster oven/toaster at least.

LOL. **suddenly remembers the time she nearly started a fire with the toaster.** Oy vey.... The toaster wasn't working right, and it had to be manually flipped up. I wasn't watching, and the toast burned, and flames came out of the toaster and scorched the bottom of the cupboard. XD; I think it was shortly after that when we changed the location of the toaster.

Isn't it just so awesome? In a gothic novel, all of the characters are flawed and human, and oftentimes twisted as well! The movie version of Rebecca was good, too. I should see it again. It's been a while.

After I finished the book, I did some research and found out that there were two "sequels" written by other authors. Blurgh. From what I read, I don't like what they did with the characters!

Yes, the book was awesome, the best work by du Maurier, I think. I've read a few pages of one of the sequels by another author. And I think she didn't understand the story at all, otherwise she wouldn't let Maxim die at the end of the story. *shakes head. And there was a stupid twist about him feeling guilty and deciding to go to the police.

"The woman in white" by Collins was not bad either (maybe you want to read it, being interested in mystery/gothic novels).

Yeah, that sounded like a really crappy ending. And I heard that Mrs. Danvers just popped up out of the blue in it, and Mrs. DeWinter lost all of her character development. Pathetic!

The Woman In White. X3 That sounds lovely and vague. I'll definitely have to look for it!

And I usually don't read sequels to stories which are not supposed to have sequels. Most of them are pathetic. And the sequel to Rebecca was perhaps the most pathetic I've seen. Yes, Mrs. Danvers came back and actually talked with Mrs. de Winter, telling her that there ought to be justice. Mrs. de Winter even found a photo of Rebecca. And Maxim died in a stupid car accident on the way to the police.

Sweet. XD I don't really like reading books online, but I'll try a chapter or two and see if I want to buy it then. ^^ Of course, if it's not in print anymore, then I would need to read all of it online. Or print it off. ;)

**shakes head.** I just can't imagine Maxim ever feeling so much guilt (if he would ever feel any at all) that he would go to the police. If I remember right, one reviewer for the sequel said that the author made everything stark black and white and showed that criminals must be punished and whatnot, when the whole point of the original novel was a gray area.

Yes, the author of the sequel didn't understand that Rebecca and Mrs. de Winter were two sides of the same coin. When "Rebecca" returned, the character of Mrs. de Winter changed. At the end, Mrs. de Winter's character was balanced. She kept her good character and got the strong, confident character traits which belonged to Rebecca. By imitating Rabecca and thinking of her so much, she identified herself for a while with Rebecca and could finally mature and win against her surroundings (Danvers etc.)... The Rebecca novel didn't deal with guilt. Maxim never felt really guilty. He was sorry that he killed Rebecca because he felt that he was the loser, not the winner.

The author of the sequel, however, destroyed the mystery of Rebecca (and the fact that the "Rebecca" in Mrs. de Winter's imagination was actually a kind of "alter ego" of herself) by creating a visible image of Rebecca. And then she messed up everything by making Mrs. de Winter turning back into the girl she was before she met Maxim. The stupidest thing she did was to kill of Maxim and to let them return to England and meet Mrs. Danvers again. *sigh

Have you read the sequel of "Gone With the Wind"? ("Scarlett") I didn't like it either. The author made Rhett coming back to Scarlett at the end of the novel. Margaret Mitchell didn't want to have a sequel. She said explicitly that she didn't like to mend broken things and that it's better to start anew instead of trying to collect the broken pieces.

Yes, it's such a pity, what that author did, taking away all of the depth of the original novel! I can't imagine that Daphne Du Maurier would have been pleased. I don't even really want to read either of the sequels. Hearing about them is plenty.

I haven't read Scarlett, but I've definitely heard about it! How did the author set it up so that Rhett would come back to her?

Uh, Scarlett went to his home where he lived with his mother and tried to get him back. Everything she got was an one-night stand with him. Then he married another woman (a sweet innocent young thing, a bit Melany-like). Well, she went away, got to Ireland some way, raised the child she got by Rhett (yes, yes, the one-night stand...). Then she fell in love with an Irish officer or sergeant. At the end, he died in the war. Rhett's wife died, too. And when Rhett came to save Scarlett, he met the child. Yes, crappy ending, as expected. The book was not so terribly bad. But I'm sure that Margaret Mitchell would have hated it, if she were alive.

Yeah, the whole thing sounds pretty cliché! Maybe not terrible, but definitely cliché. XD; And I don't imagine either that Margaret Mitchell would have liked it.

Did you hear about the whacked-out book some dude wrote about Tiny Tim (yes, the character from A Christmas Carol)? Apparently he was really bitter about life and couldn't imagine that Tiny Tim could really be so happy, so he wrote a book where Tiny Tim was an adult and bitter as well!

And "Scarlett" was very cliché and definitely not worth reading. If it had been a fanfic, I would have thought that it was good. But it was definitely not good enough to be a sequel of "Gone of the Wind", especially because Mitchell did not want her story to have a sequel.

There are alternative endings which are not bad. I mean, I know that Truman Capote disliked the movie ending of "Breakfast at Tiffany's". But then the movie was really good (despite being a romance instead of a satire like the novella). It was completely different from the book. And Audrey was the perfect movie-Holly-cast although she was certainly not the right cast for the novella-Holly.

I think the guy made Tiny Tim jump in bed with prostitutes too, if I remember right. .____.; That author is seriously messed up.

And there was a book that someone wrote as an alternate sequel to Little Women because she didn't like Little Men, or Jo's Boys, or whichever came next. She insisted that Jo was a lesbian and so she wanted to write a book about that. Oy vey. So being a tomboy always equals being a lesbian. [/sarcasm.]

If I remember right, they made a TV movie out of Scarlett, which I saw advertised, but never watched. XD I think I was afraid that they would show a big sex scene.

True, sometimes I like alternate endings of things. :) Overall, I really prefer the Sailor Moon anime over the manga, including the ending. ^^; Though I do think the Senshi are better in the manga, especially Rei! But the villains are better in the anime! XD In the manga they're so one-dimensional.

And I need to watch Breakfast at Tiffany's. XD I've always meant to, since I like Audrey Hepburn. ^^

Yay amusing conversations! XD I love Vodka's expression in the icon from the last batch I did, where Gin is saying that he won't even ask what Vermouth means when she says "Have fun." Vodka looks so shocked and appalled, and Gin looks disgusted, so it was perfect. ^^

And yeah, that quiz has some rather odd questions. XD I've seen some that were even more bizarre, though.
