Comment with the name/title of a fandom I'm aware of, no matter how obvious you think the answers will be, and I'll reply to you with the relationships -canon or not- from it I ship. I'll give favorite romantic relationships as well as favorite platonic ones. Also, you're free to reply in subthreads and ask me why I ship or don't ship something.

Romantic: Ahh, a good question. XD What do I ship romantically in YGO? ... I can only think of Pegasus/Cecelia. ^^ A canon couple, and tragic, too, just like I like 'em. Dartz/Phiona is also quite sweet.

Platonic: I've moved back to my original idea of preferring Seto and Téa as friends, or in one of those hard to define relationships that I think of as deeper than something solely romantic. XD;

And of course, I still love my sibling cuteness. X3 Ishtars and Kaibas for the win!

The bikers are still so awesome with their dysfunctional family/close friend relationships. I particularly like Alister and Valon's, since they're so different, but I also love Raphael's interactions with them both, the way he's an elder brother/father figure to Valon, and the way he and Alister have their deep conversations and ponder over what to do about Valon. XD

The Wheelers and the Robas still don't interest me much.... Nor do Yugi-tachi, though sometimes I like Joey and Tristan's friendship, and Tristan and Duke's, since it alternates between them being friends and rivals.

Romantic: My OTP is Gin/Sherry, of course. X3 **finds something so appealing about the twistedness/possible tragicness of the relationship.** And my hopelessly romantic side kicks in when I want them to have a happy ending, no matter how unlikely it would be in real life!

I am a quiet supporter of Shinichi/Ran, and you are making me love Heiji/Kazuha much more than I did!

I also find the idea of one-sided Vermouth/Gin appealing, somehow. There's canon hints here and there. I doubt that Gin would ever care about her in that way, and I can see Vermouth being very jealous of Sherry. **remembers the throwing darts scene.**

Platonic: For some reason, I like Kaito/Aoko better in that friends/hard to define relationship category, though perhaps if I read all of Magic Kaitou I will like them better in a romantic way!

Ran and Sonoko I have just started to pay attention to, and I will definitely be wanting to write something about them sometime! I also must see movie 4, even if it takes all night for Guba to load it! **wants to see movie 7, too!**

And of course, Gin and Vodka. XD The canon delivers so many hints as to their relationship, including the infamous gun scene, and I love it. They're so fun to watch and write about. And it's a change of pace from the usual friendships I write about. The only thing I can think of that's somewhat similar is the bikers on YGO, who often will not come and say they care, though their reasons are mostly not the same as Gin and Vodka's.

I love the thing I created with Gin and Ayumi, too. It's so freakin' cute. XD I worried I'd be stoned by fans when I posted that Ghosts one-shot, and instead it was enthusiastically received. Now it's a trilogy, not to mention it has even crept into an AU timeline.... Gin's so bewildered as to why Ayumi cares about him, and that she does even though she knows he's an assassin. ^^

And Conan and Ai's friendship is really sweet. I love how Ai has come to know and predict Conan's moods and thoughts and whatnot, and how they have that silent understanding.

Or maybe you will prefer Kaito/Koizumi...X3

"Ran and Sonoko I have just started to pay attention to, and I will definitely be wanting to write something about them sometime! I also must see movie 4, even if it takes all night for Guba to load it! **wants to see movie 7, too!**"
It's true than the movie 4 is a great Ran/Sonoko film(I don't think it was this pairing than the author would worshipp in the movie but well...XD)! X3
In this movie, Sonoko is trully put in a new light an become more lovable than in the manga(There is very few hits in the manga about how much her friendship with Ran is profond...)

"It's so freakin' cute."
It was so cute it should be illegal...X3
Aaaaw, Gin sama...XD

XD Hmm....

Romantic: Baby Face/Ruby! ^^ Though I admit I prefer the way I developed their characters (especially Ruby's) in my stories rather than the cliché way they were depicted on the show. XD But of course, if not for the show, I wouldn't have written about them at all!

Platonic: The Monkees themselves! They have such great interaction with each other. X3 So much friendship cuteness! Though I am especially fond of Micky and Peter's friendship, particularly in the first season. ^^ Micky rags on Peter like an older brother, but when push comes to shove, they're there for each other. I also like when everyone looks after Davy, like in episode 6. It reminds me of Alister and Raphael looking after Valon. XD

XD

Romantic: Mytho/Rue and Fakir/Ahiru! ^^ The canon ships. Mytho/Ahiru is cute, but I just don't see it as much more than a crush on Ahiru's part, though I do think that later on she did begin to genuinely love him. But Rue always seemed to be the one Mytho cared for the most. He never even realized that Princess Tutu/Ahiru loved him, did he?

Platonic: Fakir and Mytho! Love their relationship. It's so complex. And I love Fakir and Ahiru's friendship as well as any romantic feelings they have for each other. It's so cool how they come to know each other as the series progresses.

"He never even realized that Princess Tutu/Ahiru loved him, did he?"
Well, the end of the first season?
True, it depends of the way you look at it, but I tend to see the pas de deux scene like a sign than Mytho had partly understood what Tutu feels for him...
That said, I'm a Rue/Mytho and a Fakir/Ahiru shipper...The end of the show had just overjoyed me... In the beguining, I think my two OTP in the show were alternate pairing and NO they were Canon pairing!MWOUHAHAHAHAHHA! X)

Pocket Monsters: Diamond & Pearl!

Hmmm....

Romantic: A good question. XD Pokémon is one series where I don't find much I want to ship in this way. Offhand, the only one I can think of is May/Drew. And Harley/Jessie still does intrigue me in some twisted way.

Platonic: Everything else. XD J/K. But I am one of the few TR fans who prefers to see Jessie and James as best friends and not as a couple. ^^; I admit I dabbled in Rocketshipping for a while, but I'm afraid I got turned off on it by a rabid Rocketshipper a few years back.

I like Ash's friendships with Misty, Brock, and May and Max. ^^ And of course, Ash's friendship with Pikachu. Very sweet. I really like that early episode where it looks like Pikachu may go away. **doesn't remember many of the details about it any more, though.**

-pops nose bubble-

ShuHaru is a given. ^^; When the pairing's supported by Mitsuko, Musashi, Harley, Wakana (sort of) and just about everybody else, it would be unbelievable to claim otherwise. xD

That's so sad! ;_; I've joined the fandom MUCH later so I never had the, er, 'pleasure' to meet the scary early days Rocketshippers.
It's such a shame you don't like the pairing, it's quite sweet. ^^;;

Actually, just about ALL the Rocketshippers are gone now. xD;;; Seriously, when was the last time you checked up on this fandom? It's a 'sunken ship,' it's 'dead,' the Rocketshipping Club had a freakin' /funeral/ at one forum.

(All this was really ridiculous over-reaction if you ask me, all because of the Chirean episdoe. ... And? The guy who wrote that episode /despises/ Musashi and always portrays her negatively! Have we forgotten Bad to The Bone? Blind loyalty is one of Musashi's traits and he turns her into a complete backstabber as well as making Kojiro and Nyasu annoying back-biters.
He doesn't really seem to care eitherway about Nyasu except in making him team up with Kojiro against Musashi or having Musashi abuse the poor cat. ^^;
I'll admit his episodes ARE some of the funniest in the series, but I'm more then a little irritated that the guy who wrote Love and The Origin of Youth /and/ the original Kojiro's past episode Gaurdie to Kojiro (Holy Matrimony!) didn't get to write this episode. That's just /wrong,/ man (that and Junkie has the best portrayal of Musashi -shifty-).
At least it was in-character for Kojiro to freak out at the idea of marrying Musashi, even if what he imagined was just a more domestic over-dramatised version (oh, yeah, with him being a housewife who has bad taste in furniture) of his day-to-day life. xD
Best thing is just to not take the guy's episodes TOO seriously.)

Though, technically, you're one of the few TR fans left who sees them as friends at all. ^^; Now most people just hate Musashi and thus hate her and Kojiro as friends/partners/lovers/whatever else and would have much rather Kojiro stayed with miss 'KOJIRO-SAN! -handclapsparkly-' No-Personality-Skeleton-of-A-Sue instead of Musashi who (... used to... ) have a very interesting personality.

... Though, oddly enough, the one brand of Rocketshipping that remains unaffected through this whole thing is WrongRocketshipping. O_o; It's an, er, 'friends with benifits' dealy. xDD;;;

Also, what about characters who are already in relationships/have-the-crap-'hinted'-out-of-them even more then ShuHaru? Like say, Butler and Diane in movie six or Kenta and Marina in Legend of Thunder? (Junichi and Marina's canon too, but Marina doesn't like the poor dork. ^^; Personally, I found him more interesting then Kenta, especially with his hillarious over-dramatic entrances with the cape and all. xD)

I'm... not even sure why I'm talking about all of this and you're probably thinking: 'Oh, God, not another rabid Rocketshipper!' or 'Please shut the hell up, it's freakin' /POKEMON./ Why are you dicepting the crap out of it and not just enjoying it?!'
So I'll be quiet now. ^^;;;

XD On Drew/May, just because a pairing is practically canon doesn't mean I'll always like it. Some canon relationships I'm quite indifferent to. As for the movie ones you mused over, I'm trying to remember if I've seen those. I haven't seen all of the Pokémon movies. I think I saw the one with Kenta and Marina, though.... The names sound familiar.

I think most of what I find sweet about Rocketshipping still applies when I think of them as best friends.

I have barely done anything with the Pokémon fandom for a couple of years now. I still belong to the PokéCommunity, but I haven't been there in a while.

And it's sad that all of TR had their personalities mashed by that one writer. -.- I hate when that happens. What, exactly, did he give in the script as the reason why they all turned against each other? Or was no reason given? And how did that episode end?

WrongRocketshipping sounds ... wrong, period. XD;

That wasn't a movie, though, that was a special. xD
Rose is in a special as well, which wasn't longer then the average episode.

PokeCommunity died just recently I'm afraid. ^^;

Yukiyoshi really REALLY likes Kojiro.
That's all I can say, really. It's like he's super-protective of him or something and hates Meowth and Jessie or anyone else being around him. xD; It's so /random./

He did several episodes that way, but the Chirean one was mostly because of how he made Musashi and Nyasu just go around stealing food and trying to steal Pokemon from Kojiro's summer home even after Kojiro repeatedly told them not to.
His and Chirean's goodbye, however, was VERY touching as was the old woman's speech at the end. Beautiful and perfect.
Love Kojiro's and Chirean's seiyuu and I. LOVE. SMILE.
It's the prettiest song! ^^;
And the animation in that episode was /amazing./ We'll ignore superskinnystarvedeventhoughshewasjuststuffingherself!Musashi and Kojiro's gigantic red R and just squee at the pretty, okay? xD;

And the song is beautiful!

He said he loved Chirean...
And later, it was explained that Manene's nice and just really got attatched to Kojiro, so it wanted to be with him.

The old couple were saying that even though he was a member of the Roketto-dan, they still loved and accepted him and knew he had good friends (wow, that in a Yukiyoshi episode? :P) and... such.

I love it as well!

After, after. ^^

The dub changed the speech a bit too... ^^;; But, the REAL reason PUSA are winning me over, they actually TRANSLATED most of it instead of just insterting a random speech like 4Kids would have done! ^^

Oh, right, I don't think you're familiar with the Raikou special or the point blank attack scene...
Movie eight!
I really don't want to spoil anything, but I'll post a SMALL translation snippet of the really touching speech in it.

I heard 4Kids went out with a bang- hopefully they translated this scene and kept it as beautiful.
'If a life must be traded for a pointless war... Myself and only me... should be plenty. But, I don't have any... regrets. In the castle, with Leen-sama and you... I had a beautiful life. That itself is what 'living' means.'

The whole speech is much sadder, but I can't spoil it! ^^;;; Especially if you listen to it and watch it... waaah.

Also, human death for the win! xD 4Kids /still/ dodged around the word 'die' though. It was kind of funny. The tree is 'dying,' whereas ---- is being 'destroyed.'

I'll stop spamming you and send you just this last little clippie from one of my most favorite Junkie-written episodes. ^^; It's just so SWEET. Also, more of Musashi's loyalty working a little bit against her, but at the same time, it helped them. xD;

Also, THE most awkward scene in Pokemon got 'translated' well. I honestly thought they would cut it. But, 'shinigami Musashi' was omitted... but Yamato (Casisdy!) and Musashi talking was translated well and even better then the original in some parts! ... Except for making the number of Musashi's 'crushed' partners less. ^^; Well, 4Kids was always about the panting and groaning and 'oh'ing and 'hmm'ing random other noises whenever there was silence in the original... so when they actually had to do some, it came out great. xDD

There's another scene I'd LOVE to send you, but since I don't want to crowd you too much... I'll just give you Dogasu's translation of what was said (which the dub completely rewrote... oi, vey)! ^o^

Kojiro: Musashi...are you awake?
Musashi: Yeah.
Kojiro: I'm always saying how I won't run away from anything, but the truth is that I've run away from all sorts of things. Up until now, I've led a life where I've been constantly running away.
Musashi: Until now, I've lived completely alone even though I keep being paired up with teammates.
Kojiro: You can't undo the past, but you can make a new one starting tomorrow.
Musashi: Yeah. If this team becomes number one, I believe we'll be able to shine like the stars in the sky!
Nyasu: Nyaa~ we'll become the star of the Roketto-Dan...

Thanks for the clip. ^^ That is a sweet scene! I can guess at what might be being said, but I don't know for sure. In any case, I love it.

A scene dubbed even better than the original? That's something that doesn't happen every day.

Thanks for the translation of the other scene, and that speech. Those are both great. X3 I especially love the line about Musashi feeling that she's lived alone in the past even though she's been paired with teammates.

Not much speaking, but the exam was coming to an end and Kojiro wanted Musashi to let go and leave and finish the test with Nyasu. He didn't want to hurt him by using him as a rope.
Musashi couldn't leave him, obviously, and kept trying to pull him up even though he said it was impossible. He smiled, then let go.
But THIS time, Musashi pulled Nyasu up and both grabbed his hand, pulling him out.
Awkward scene, then Nyasu gets them to finish the test (they were late in finishing... but got in the gang anyway. ^^)

Yeah, ESPECIALLY not with 4Kids! xD That's only happened like... twice or thrice before. ^^;

Technically, she has lived alone since her mother did die and she was being switched from foster home to foster home... I guess 4Kids changed the dialogue around because Jessie's mother is supposed to be alive well into the Santa/Jynx thing, whereas Musashi's mother was probably already dead before then, the real reason Santa didn't get to give her her doll back being because she was moved to yet another home and he lost her. ^^;
And btoh were really... tough as nails in this special. Musashi was constantly crushing her old team mates and refused to get close to any (before Kojiro) earning herself the nickname of shinigami Musashi by people twelve years her senior. xD

If you already knew all that... ^///^ So sorry for rambling!

Yeah, poor Musashi. ^^;

The special's continuity errors are that Kojiro and Musashi were (in the original series) childhood friends and met BEFORE the gang.
Also, Kojiro interacts with Kosaburo and Yamato several times, though maybe he forgot about them when he saw them again later. xD;
And that Nyasu found Persian already there- it was more like Nyasu tried to usurp Persian's role for a second there while the cats just looked irritated, then Sakaki figured Nyasu just messed things up so he put him with Kojiro and Musashi. xD
But forgetting those, everything else about the special is perfect.

Why are all the songs named 'Smile' that I know are really sad? ^^;
Kojiro, not James. ^^;
Though the change from 4Kids to PUSA really made me happy, I was fearing the day this episode would be dubbed the sweetness of this scene would be destroyed by the squealy unemotional flaming gay stereotype that is Eric Stuart's James. x_X; Sure, the new voice is rough and unpolished, but it really worked in parts of this episode, especially the goodbye.
'I know this is supposed to be serious, I just... don't know how to deal with this...'

SO in-character for Kojiro. James would probably just be 'HOW SAD! -sobWHINNYeeehohohooooocry- I CAN'T LEAVE CHIMMYYYKOOO!!!'

-twitch-

Or he would say something even goofier like 'meanie!' when he was being THREATENED BY A GUN. Why, yes, I am quite bitter with how Kojiro is dubbed post-KantoandOrange, is it that obvious?

Date: 2006-11-13 02:06 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] insaneladybug.livejournal.com
I know him as James and I do tend to use the English voices when I'm more familiar with them. Anyway, I think Ted Lewis's James wasn't too bad. Eric Stuart originally tried to copy Ted's voice more, but then later on he got the whole whiny-accent thing.

I didn't like the dub voices from that recent TV special about Mirage Pokémon, but I heard that the new voices either changed or got better, can't remember which. I haven't actually heard any English voices beyond the 4Kids ones or that Mirage special.

The only other Smile song I know is the one from Full Moon, but I don't remember its translation....

One or two changed, the rest are getting better except for new Ash who is getting better at a SNAIL'S PACE. xD; There are times when Sarah sounded like old-Ash, but then other times where she just sounded... unemotional as heck.

I was thinking of that Smile too!

Yay, HariMusa! It's my beloved crack-ship. xD Or was, before I decided WitheredFlowershipping was a better crack-ship since the anime was actually making my old crack-ship make SENSE. And I was /liking it./ -snort- It's certainly interesting... and downright confusing from Harley's side.

My simplified summary of/what-I-learned-from Harley and Musashi's interactions in Rivals Forever!:
Haruka is in denial about the whole Shuu thing.
Creepy-stalker-man/Enishida/Scott has EYES. 'Suki desu ne~?' Sukizo-san-parodying is win.
Haruka's depression is over! Hooray!
This marks the... second/third episode that is both well-animated AND well-drawn that poor Harley appears in. ^^; Iwane. Which is odd as most of the episode was dialogue instead of moving around, so it felt somewhat like a waste, but at the same time, I'm glad they got Iwane to do this one.
Also, Harley's hair looks washed out the first time. xD;
And Ookido-hakase's EYEBROWS CHANGE COLOR ... consistently! xD
Harley does NOT like being denied anything. If sensei tells Musa-chan to come to Jouto with him, he is not inviting, it is an ORDER, Musa-chan! Or else you get Seed Machine Gun'd.
Musashi is very very cute.
'Shuu atarashi no buddy ka?' Indeed...
There is a quota to how many times you say 'kaga(, -iadashite, -iaku)' that MUST be filled in every contest-related episode.
Actions speak louder then words.
Musashi is VERY very /very/ cute.
Fangirls can sometimes be useful.

That is all. ^^
