I heard You Make It Feel Like Christmas for the first time this season. X3 I love that song so much. It's very soothing and pretty, and I think it is the most romantic Christmas song, and a very romantic song period. It's not like the silly cheesiness of It Must Have Been the Mistletoe. You Make It Feel Like Christmas is about a true love that's endured through the years, while It Must Have Been the Mistletoe is just a silly little ditty about love at first kiss, which may or may not pan out in the end (and probably won't, realistically). I roll my eyes at the latter song and wish that the tune wasn't so catchy.

And I've been craving to watch Saiyuki again, so I watched the saga with the scorpions and Goku going berserk. I love it. X3 Such an overload of hurt/comfort and friendship cuteness!

I remembered SK saying that Sanzo actually thanked Goku in the English version, so out of curiosity I watched the second half of the third part over again in English when I was done. And ... honestly, I'm sorry, dub fans, but I winced. XD; Greg's Goku was the only voice I really liked that much. He tried hard to copy the original seiyuu's voice as much as he could. Let me make it clear that I think the entire English cast is talented. But in Saiyuki, I think most were miscast. At least especially Sanzo and Hakkai.

Sanzo doesn't sound gruff and cold and deep, the way he should. And when he's talking to Hakkai after he wakes up, and Hakkai reminds him of Sanzo saying that he didn't need excess baggage, Sanzo actually apologized instead of muttering that he's the idiot then. Since when does Sanzo outright apologize for his words or actions? XD; And when he goes to see Goku, he says, "Could you possibly get me a beer?" Where did Sanzo go? ^^; He wouldn't ever ask that nicely! In the original, he just tells Goku to get him the beer. Though I did think it was cute in the dub when he muttered "Thanks", which was probably meant for more than the beer, before he started to attack.

Hakkai sounded too young, like he was still a teenager, really. XD; And he wasn't as polite in the dub as in the original. I was also disappointed that Gojyo's voice wasn't as deep, but his voice was one that I was more impressed with. Aside from Goku, though, I think I liked Doku's English VA best.

They also pronounced names wrong. ^^; They put the emphasis on the second syllable of Hakkai's name instead of just approximately saying "Hawkeye", like in the Japanese. And they emphasized the "O" in Yaone's name. And Kougaiji's name was pronounced something like "KOU-ga-SHEE." But that isn't as much of a beef with me as the other stuff.

Christmas music, oh man. XD The commercials have started coming on like whoa and don't get me wrong, I love Christmas, but I'm so not ready for it yet. XD For one thing, I don't know what I'm gonna do for my annual Christmas fic! XP

Haha, I watched the dubbed version of Saiyuki once and I was like, "Whaaat? What iiiis this?! >_>"

Hehe, well, I'm sorry to hear your Saiyuki dub experience wasn't too good! Each to his or her own, I suppose. Personally, I love the ADV dub cast. They are, after all, a part of what makes the Saiyuki I fell in love with. ^^ (Mispronounciations and all, hehe.) I particularly love Hakkai's voice. It's kind, but doesn't sound overly feminine.

^^ I think what I didn't care for in Hakkai's dub voice is that I didn't hear the undertone of sadness that the Japanese VA puts into the role. But I do agree that the English VA sounded kind, as well.

And I can definitely understand how a dub could be part of your enjoyment of the series, since I'm so attached to the YGO dub inspite of all its flaws. XD
