1. I've noticed Misa is bashed a lot in the fandom. She really annoyed me at first, but later on, she didn't always bother me. I like her especially when she doesn't have her memories and isn't trying to kill people. Her devotion to Light is sometimes very sweet, but other times, it drives me mad. She knows he's using her, yet she doesn't care. She just basically threw her life away. Still, I realize that to her, she was giving her life to what she thought was a good cause, and she was so very deeply affected by seeing her parents be shot to death. But it's hard for me to fully respect or like a character who sneaks around and uses underhanded methods to kill people. **got irritated when she and Light were scheming to kill L, for instance.**
2. I am actually often torn on what I think of Light's mission. I know it is wrong, yet when he started out, the first thing he did was stop a criminal who was holding a bunch of little kids hostage. That seemed a lot different than when he decided to randomly go out and punish all criminals, even ones who were serving their sentences in prison. I could never agree with that, which was definitely playing God. When it came to something that really needed to be stopped right then or innocent people would be hurt, I could agree that something needed to be done. But the problem was, doing it then opened the door for him to take it further and eventually get lost in thoughts of grandeur. Light was weak. And he was human. And I wonder if the same thing might happen to anyone if they ended up in the same position. After all, Light seemed to be a pretty ordinary guy until he found the Death Note.
3. I really like Near. I suppose a lot of people don't because he's L's replacement and they compare him to L/they don't find the interaction between him and Light as interesting/etc. I dunno, I didn't start out comparing the two, at least not their differences. I noticed their similarities, and I actually felt at home with Near right away, even though I missed L like crazy. On some level, maybe I can relate better to Near than L, as well, because Near's obsession was toys instead of sweets. XD That doesn't necessarily mean I like him better than L, I love them both. And Near hate definitely makes me sad. ;__;
1. Understandable. That's one of the reasons why I like her, somewhat. On and off like Kaoru (always seems to be female characters I like on and off).
2. Yes, I don't like his methods or believe he has a special right to carry out divine judgement. Yet, I could argue both sides for him if needed, and I find him very interesting. =)
3. Same here! I love Near (still can't find a fondness for Mello) and it's interesting, if I recall correctly, the way he referred to L as losing the game, or something. Off topic, I would like to buy the novel in Feb/08 of DN being told from L's POV. Can't remember.
