Yay DuckTales!

Watched some DuckTales this past day. Finally saw the episode that first introduced FOWL, which of course would later be a major evil force for Darkwing to contend with. It was a lot different on DuckTales, though, played more for laughs and run by a weirdo wanting to destroy all paper money. The whole thing was a James Bond and other spy movies parody. At the end they even parodied something else, Casablanca. LOL. But overall, I wasn't that impressed with the episode. It just didn't feel right for DuckTales. Actually, I usually don't like the episodes where Launchpad is practically the only character. And that's nothing against Launchpad, but I just think it needs some of the others too. Plus, I think FOWL was much better as a truly dangerous criminal syndicate on Darkwing's show.

Launchpad's dilemmas trying to use his comb phone are hilarious, though. XD Like, it rings right while he's with the femme fatale. "Could you excuse me a minute? I have to answer my comb ... I mean, comb my hair!" And then later he's having trouble contacting the secret organization and gets an operator who says for him to deposit 25 cents.

Launchpad: Where?! I'm talking on a pocket comb!
Operator: I'm sorry, a pocket comb is not authorized for communication by your telephone company.

Or something like that. **snerk.** Best dialogue in the episode.

Then I saw some stuff from season 2. And I know it's controversial with fans, but I LOVE the season 2 episodes and I love Fenton! I finally saw the episode where Scrooge has amnesia, or rather, all of it. I saw the second half on TV when it first aired, and all these years later, I still remembered it. I barely remembered any of the plot or the moral thrown in, but the amnesia and Fenton impersonating Scrooge stood out in my mind. It was awesome! I thought maybe the moral would be a bit heavy, as DuckTales sometimes lays 'em on thick, but it didn't come off cheesy to my way of thinking. It was perfect.

Then I watched an old favorite, the two-part Golden Goose saga. SO. MUCH. LOVE. It was just as good as I'd remembered. All the h/c, and angst, and suspense, and ... yessss. I really liked the irony of everyone's (well, Scrooge, Glomgold, and Dijon's) greed being responsible for the disaster. I remember as a kid, when I watched it I couldn't believe everyone was being turned to gold. I wondered how they were ever going to get out of the mess. It was wonderful.

I'm thinking now an RP with the scenario would be seriously fun.... Dalton or somebody could be after the goose, everyone tries to get it back, it comes to life and starts changing everything and everyone to gold, and they have to return it to its temple before there's no one left to do it!

And ... it put me in mind of my beloved statue crisis again. XD; Dang, but I love that scenario. I never get tired of reworking it to try in new RPs. And now I'm thinking of writing a ficlit where Cloud falls asleep and has a nightmare about that time ... or oooh, what if that's a scene in the fic where they're exploring the cave again? That would fit in perfectly. Yes, yes! I should seriously work on that fic. X3 And maybe I'll have some little flashbacks interspersed throughout, to kinda help anyone who hasn't read my S&M blurbs.

LOL; Launchpad's dilemma seems reminiscent of a certain '60s sitcom character! XD

LOL at the amnesia episode; that was one of my favorites! I love how Fenton had trouble getting the top hat to stay on! **remembers Yugi and the fedora scene from "Tanzsaal"**

Another one of my favorite episodes is the one where it's revealed that Fenton is GizmoDuck... I still remember a random quote from that episode of Fenton referring to Scrooge: "Sentimental fool, isn't he?"

Oh, goodness! I so adored the Golden Goose eps! I remember totally panicking after the nephews turned to gold; I was so worried for them! And yes, major h/c and angst after Scrooge realized that he was responsible for what had happened to them! And him throwing the goose back at the last second... goodness, that image is still so vivid! Yes, those are wonderful episodes! Thanks for the nostalgia!

I'm sure I've seen the episodes that introduced Fenton at some point, but now I barely remember any of them. XD; I should check them out next! LOL @ Fenton's quote. Ah, Scrooge.

Yes! The Golden Goose episodes are just so full of awesome and amazingness! X3 Even knowing what was going to happen, I was still on the edge of my seat.

You know what? I LOVE the season 2 episodes. Gizmo Duck, right? I thought he was FUNNY. And also...*probably not remembering right* Isn't that when Bubba was introduced? I LOVE DuckTales. Why haven't I gotten those sets yet?!

I like Fenton himself better than his alter ego, but Gizmoduck was cool. X3 And yep, Bubba came in then. I can't remember whether I liked him or if I thought he overcrowded things. XD; I was going to watch some stuff with him and see what I thought.

LOL @ the dialoge. Sounds like a fun episode! Though I agree with it needing the other characters too. They're usually best with everyone!^^

Those other episodes sound great, too!^^ But what's so controversial about season 2? **can't remember much about it.** XD;

Oooh, that would be a fun RP! And so intense, too, especially if it was unpredictable. **and wonders what kind of temple would have a golden goose like that.** I'm thinking Greek, for some reason. XD

Oooh, that scene would be perfect for that fic! Poor Cloud. It would make going to the cave so much worse for him! And flashbacks would definitely be good!^^ **still has yet to read everything. XD;**

Many purists just don't like it. XD They hate the new characters that came in, they don't like the writing, etc. I realized myself that it's actually what I'm most used to, even though I also saw a good deal of the earlier episodes when I was younger, and I have some of those on DVD. I seem to like best the episodes that aired towards the end of season 1 (I think; I need to check air dates versus production order) and on into season 2.

It seemed to be Indian in the episode, but Greek would be intriguing! X3

**nodnod.** Cloud would be so horrified waking up from a dream like that! He'd probably go right to Seph's room to reassure himself all was okay. And if Seph was still and felt cold, Cloud would probably freak out a bit before Seph would wake up and let him know he was okay.

Sounds like I really need to watch some of those again! I'm not sure I even noticed a difference between the two seasons when I watched them as a kid. XD;

XD I'm not totally sure if I noticed the difference back then, but I definitely knew I preferred the Fenton ones. ^^

Yeah! Cloud would remember that Seph had felt really cold to the touch for some time after his rescue from the encasing. I wonder if Cloud would feel guilty for the way he'd treated Seph back then?

Indian temples tend to be old and carved out of granite; there are a lot of pillars (similar to the hypostyle halls of Egyptian temples, with carvings of Gods, etc). And there is usually a central shrine (again, similar to the Egyptian naos where the idol is kept and decorated with jewelry and garlands. Once a day, the idol is bathed with milk and honey (also a custom that the ancient Egyptians followed, if memory serves).

It has been a while since I've seen those eps, so I'm not sure if it was an Indian temple or not, either... but I still have that vivid image of that fountain where Scrooge threw the goose back onto at the last second!

Which fic was the one where Seph turns to stone? I saw the pic in your side7...

He was encased in stone, to be specific. ^^ I'd never have someone literally turned to solid stone/gold/etc.

And it's Sunrise and Midnight, but you'll only find it in blurbs here on LJ. XD; The tag Sunrise and Midnight should bring up all such entries, but it might take a bit to dig through them. ^^;
