Jimmy guested on two episodes of The Dick Van Dyke Show, so I got the needed boxsets from the library. Man, that show is funny! I like it enough that I'd like to see a lot of it. Dick Van Dyke has been another favorite actor of mine (though I've never crushed on him), and Rose Marie is a regular cast member. She played Bessie, The Big Woman in Monkees in a Ghost Town, and later came back to play Milly Rudnik. She's fun.
Jimmy's parts were great. XD I especially liked in this one episode where this chorus girl was crushing on Rob (Dick's character), and he didn't know what he was ever going to do about it, and he tried chasing her in order to scare her, and it backfired. Then Jimmy's character Ernie came in and glared at him, and the following dialogue occurred:
Ernie: Mr. Petrie, I'm Ernie! ><
Rob: Oh. How did rehearsal go?
Ernie: Fine! >< **punches him in the stomach and storms out.**
Rob: **doubles over in pain.**
It amused me terribly, because Ernie's really quite short (probably around Davy's height) and he dealt out so much damage. LOL.
In the other episode Jimmy was in, he played a member of a biker gang. Rob had gotten a motorcycle and they were all eating at a cafe, but when the gang didn't have enough money, Rob made up the difference and they made him honorary leader of the pack. XD Jimmy's character seemed to be the leader, so he got quite a nice bit of screen time.
I also went through my brother's old tape collection the other day. We've been keeping it because he doesn't seem to want it since he upgraded to DVDs. I was looking for the movie Mister Roberts, which I thought I remembered that he had. I couldn't find it, but I did find The Good Guys and the Bad Guys. XD I was quite pleased about that. Jimmy has a good-sized part in it. It's a Western-type movie, and Jimmy played one of the bandits. I recognized him immediately, even though this time he had a hat and a mustache. The movie itself wasn't too bad, either. It was a light comedy, but there was also drama and it seemed rather deep.
The reason why I wanted the Mister Roberts movie is a long and complicated story that involves a mostly fruitless and decidedly confusing search. I don't want to detail the search right now, as I'm waiting on some further information from my contact. Let's just say that I'm in the process of trying to locate Jimmy and that's there also an actor running around credited as Jim Murphy who may be the same person. I'll know once I see Mister Roberts, which I ordered from the library. If they are one and the same, Jimmy was alive as recently as 2001. And he seems to be registered with the Screen Actors' Guild, but he didn't leave contact information. (I called them the other day.)
Last week I was having a conversation with Stacey about the problem of Linda falling in love with Tony. I ended up with another idea for how the scenario could go. She could realize she loved him, tell Mugsy then, and leave the gang. The way I wrote it the first time, she had already left and was now returning to check on how they were doing and she told Mugsy then. Just for fun, I wrote a new scene and then showed them both to Stacey. She liked the new idea too. ^^ I really want to get Linda out of the stories, as she's a fifth wheel in the gang, so this would be a plausible way to do it. XD; The scene, if I use it, happens toward the end of Will the Real Baby Face Please Stand Up?, as everyone is departing from the Chanel manor (where the climax will happen).
... And for some reason, this stupid thing won't stop being centered, even though I put in a closing tag.
Culinary: | Pizza/any kind of chips | They're so freakin' good! I start eating, and there's cheese and salt, and I can't stop! Since I know I won't get sick like I would eating sweet stuff, I can go on for ages until I'm full. |
Literary: | Nancy Drew and the Hardy Boys | Mystery stories are one of my passions. I can't get enough of them! Plus, those series were the first in which I saw hurt/comfort scenarios in literature. |
Audiovisual: | Anime | The characters are always so deep, the storylines are filled with exciting twists and are thought-provoking, and the animation is gorgeous! |
Musical: | The Monkees | Their music is so fun (and it can be deep, too), and they're so cute, and their TV show is absolutely hilarious. Plus, I'm getting hung up on some of the guest stars.... |
Celebrity: | Jimmy Murphy | Hahaha, I've always loved certain little-known actors. Jimmy had me hooked after about the third or fourth viewing of Alias Micky Dolenz. He's so darn cute, and his characters' reactions to what's happening is priceless. |
