Rage!

Yes, let's talk like Fuu from FF8.

Actually, not rage, but gah, I don't like Morgana Macawber. XD;

I was watching My Valentine Ghoul, which is hilarious for the one scene where Darkwing gets hit by a love potion and goes nuts over Negaduck. (Of course, being Disney they went for a "friendship" angle, but the slashers have always loved that scene. XD) Anyway ... ugh! Darkwing deserves better than her. I can't stand women who are always hurting their men, never letting them explain. To be fair, yes, Darkwing acted like a jerk at some parts of the episode too, bringing up his concerns that Morgana couldn't be trusted and that she might revert back to a life of crime. But she's so immature, flinging her magic every which way. She has an unfair advantage over him. There's other ways to stand up to a guy if he isn't treating you right. And at the end, when Darkwing just didn't like the creepy crawly food she always ordered for him, it was really crummy of her to flip out and not even try to understand. He comes from a totally different culture than her. Why would he like chasing his food all over the "restaurant", which was really a cemetery? He always tries to be patient long-suffering with her; why can't she afford him the same respect?

I think Gosalyn should have just let things be and not tried to fix them. XD; I mean, seeing Darkwing turn into a whimpering, desperate fool because he's worried he can't have a girl that's always zapping him is just painful to watch. I think it would be cool if he met up with, say, a lady crimefighter. (If he has to have a love interest, I mean.) She'd be strong-willed, and she wouldn't always adhere to how he would think things should go, but she would be level-headed, maybe a bit mischievous, and mysterious, too, but not in the macabre way. Yes, I'm punning her name, which was a pun to begin with.

I remember as a kid I never liked Morgana either. Then, when I was getting into the show again, I watched Just Us Justice Ducks and I thought maybe she was okay, that maybe she never meant to hurt Darkwing with her magic and that it just backfired. But then later, when I watched the Faust episode, I saw that what I'd remembered all those years ago was pretty much correct, that she does hurt Darkwing with magic when she's angry at him. And honestly, the easiest way to get me to dislike a female character is to have them always hurting the person they supposedly love. XD; Almost always, it's played for laughs, but the poor guy never means to hurt her and isn't deserving of the way she acts. But in her defense, at least she apologized in the Faust episode! Which, coming from her, is a pretty big milestone if she's mad. And that was a later episode too, so possibly she started acting more reasonable with time?

I watched Twin Beaks afterwards, which was a breath of fresh air after a Morgana episode. XD; It was hysterical as always. And I found a little part that was cut out of the Toon Disney version someone gave me on a tape. When they're fighting the mutant cabbages, and Bushroot and his plants are getting in some good shots, he exclaims something like, "Alright! No one's gonna call us a bunch of pansies!" And then a pansy shakes its fist at him and he has to apologize. LOL.

Speaking of Bushroot, I'm kinda torn now on whether I think he's really so much better than some of the other villains. Okay, he isn't and never could be Negaduck, but he's done some pretty awful things too. I mean, the first thing he did after becoming a plant duck was to commit a double murder. And in the Christmas episode, he sets out to ruin Christmas for everyone after the rude shoppers give him grief at the mall. It's a very interesting, and human, attitude, but it also seems like an immature child: "I can't have what I want, so no one else can have it either!" That seems to be basically his motivation, though maybe it was also some of: "You're treating me unfairly, so I'll treat you unfair right back." I would be more lenient towards him on the grounds that he must have lost at least a few brain cells after his transformation, but I'm not sure that's the explanation or not. **shrugs.** I still like the character, and I still wonder sometimes if Darkwing doesn't treat him a little too rough (lawn mower? Ew), but he is a villain, and Darkwing does have to stop him.

Darkwing is still my ultimate favorite character on the show. Usually I'm more indifferent to the main character, but every now and then there are exceptions. **hugs Cloud.** Darkwing is such a fascinating protagonist, really. He honestly wants to stop criminals, yet he also loves the glory. He's prideful and arrogant, yet he can also be humble and willing to admit if he's made a mistake. He's very human, as is Cloud, unlike some of the cookie-cutter protagonists out there.
