Writer's Block: Raining cats or dogs?

I prefer cats. Always have. They're quieter in general (unless you have a Siamese, LOL), mysterious, so cute, and so soft. For some reason, I feel like cats have softer fur than dogs. XD; Dunno if they really do or if it's just a bias. And I love when they meow and/or purr. Adorable! And rolling and acting silly.... Yesterday a tabby cat wandered into our yard, looked up at one of our trees, meowed at it, jumped in it, and then loafed and had a bath. LOLOLOL.
And what I don't like, just for the record: It's hilarious to look at in pictures and videos, but I would not want a cat of mine climbing the drapes, jumping on the table, or getting in the cupboards. XD;
As for the second half of the question: I'm sure that wouldn't be a problem, unless the animal was really ill-trained. -.- I would not be able to deal with that.
To be honest, though, as much as I love looking at and petting other people's cats, I dunno if I'd really want one for myself (or any animal, really). It's so sad when pets die. And I'm still just not feeling like dealing with that again, even though it's been years since we've had any pets.
And I know this probably makes me sound shallow, but I really don't want to run the risk of a pet getting into my stuff. XD; I love my plushies and figures and books and don't want to see them ruined. We've only ever had fish for pets, save a stray cat we fed that stayed outside, so that has never been a concern.
