Follow-up on Rainbow Dash
Sep. 24th, 2012 11:32 pmIn the afternoon I was thinking about something else I like and can relate to about Rainbow Dash. I love the bit in that episode where they're all at the spa and Rainbow tries to be a good sport and have a pedicure, but chickens out at the last minute because she doesn't like anyone touching her hooves.
That is so me. I honestly can't find any appeal in some complete stranger touching my hands and feet (and in seeing my horrible nails). Nor do I find it appealing to think of some complete stranger rubbing me down for a massage. It squicks me out.
I know many women love the thought of a day at the spa, but unless I could just do my own thing there, I don't think I'd enjoy it much. I've actually pretty much turned down invitations of informal spa nights because I just wasn't comfortable with it. I had other reasons why I wasn't comfortable at that particular time, and I'll admit that if it hadn't been for those I might have tried to be a good sport and accept the invite, but I still would have been very uneasy about it. It's just not my thing.
And I have to admit, I was kind of disappointed that Applejack decided she liked being at the spa and being fussed over like that. I loved when she was so against makeovers in season 1. I think that leaves Rainbow as the only one who still doesn't like any of that.
