Magnum P.I.? Seriously?
May. 1st, 2014 09:24 amSo I find it hilarious that I own half the season sets of a show I don't even like that much, The Rockford Files. But there's so many of my darlings on that show that I find collecting the seasons to be necessary. Most of them I've been able to get at good prices. Season 6 was the expensive one, and of course the price didn't come down until after I bought it. Bleh.
But anyway, season 4 has a special feature on it of some favorite list of detectives. I think it was on the Sleuth/Cloo channel and viewers voted for their top ten favorites (or perhaps it was even said to be a list of their picks for "the best", not just favorites) from a list of 25.
Honestly, I didn't expect Mannix to place when it wasn't even among those 25. (Sacrilege!) And I knew it would be unlikely for Cannon to place, sadly.
I was expecting Rockford to be at #1. I knew he'd place, since the thing was on one of those season sets. But he was #3 and #1, as picked by the viewers, was Magnum P.I.
... Seriously?
The most eye-rolling thing was that I didn't hear one word about his detective skills (and hence, am clueless about how good a detective he really was). It seemed like people only voted for him because of his good looks and his lifestyle. **eye-roll.**
One of these days I'll try the show on Cozi TV and see what all the fuss is about. It would help if one of my cuties guest-starred, but I don't think any of them ever did.
