I find it way more giggle-worthy than I should that Dictionary.com supports my pronunciation of Azazel! Seriously, there's so many different ways it could be pronounced that it makes my head spin. And I hardly ever get something like that pronounced right.
I'm also still confused over whether the name refers to the scapegoat itself or, like Dictionary.com says, an evil spirit to whom the goat is sent. But the definition from 20000-names.com said "scapegoat" and that's what the name means on Gaia, anyway. XD One nice thing about the crew coming from another planet is that their names can really mean whatever I like. LOL. Azazel's a bad egg, but not so bad he needs to be named after an evil spirit. XD; "Scapegoat" fits him much better.
I finished the Seph and Zack ficlit. X3 After spending a whole evening struggling over a title. XD; Kaze was able to come up with one. ^^
Now to tackle chapter 8 of The Diamond Rose Glass!

Date: 2008-09-10 07:58 pm (UTC)And speaking of names, the title "Diamond Rose Glass" keeps reminding me of the rose in Beauty and the Beast under the glass case. oo

Date: 2008-09-11 01:21 am (UTC)20000-names.com says it's a Hebrew name meaning "Scapegoat." That's how it was translated in the King James Bible, but other sources say it means the evil spirit the goat is sent to. XD; So ... I dunno. I still say "scapegoat."
I actually kind of wondered if I'd created the name Koseki, but I found I didn't. It's a real name, and it's also what the Japanese birth registry thingie is called. LOL.XD Yeah, I guess it could put one in mind of that.

Date: 2008-09-11 12:34 am (UTC)My OC names (the villains at least) are most often based off of spiders... lends itself to some "Agh!" moments, since the research entails looking at the accompanying pics of the aforementioned spiders. **shudders**
The ficlit was awesome! X3 Yay chapter 8!

Date: 2008-09-11 01:27 am (UTC)Having a theme for the names is fun! It makes me think of those animes with theme names. XD Tokyo Mew Mew has food names. **snickers.** Most of Sailor Moon's villains have gem/mineral names. And Megaman has music names. Some of that was lost in the dub translation, but I still prefer Megaman over Rockman. XD;
**hugs fics.** Chapter 8 had better behave!

Date: 2008-09-11 03:12 am (UTC)XD Yeah, I don't think he's that evil. ....What about Gunju? Does he qualify as an evil spirit? XD
Yay! ^^ **goes to read and comment on the fics.**
And yay for chapter 8! ^^ **looks forward to it.**

Date: 2008-09-11 03:21 am (UTC)LOL. I was wondering about Gunju. He's totally more evil than Azazel, being so sadistic and all. XD; Yet he keeps wanting to tell me he's just a mischievous ghost.
X3

Date: 2008-09-14 01:44 am (UTC)Gunju has mellowed a bit through the years, I suppose, but he's still pretty sadistic. LOL. I'm not sure he hates Seph-tachi so much now as he just ... actively dislikes them. XD
