It's been a long two months, waiting for this. LOL. Probably the only time I'll be ecstatic for New Year's Eve. **usually couldn't care less about it.** Just one year changing to another year, which really feels the same as the old one at first.
We got to the place before the doors opened and hung around waiting in the cold while a long line stretched ahead of us and after us. I was glad I decided at the last minute to bring my scarf. I definitely needed it.
The front rows were reserved, but we managed to get in not too far behind. We were in the middle of a row, but later the people on the end left and I was able to move down to the end and repeatedly sneak into the aisle to take pictures. XD
The opening acts, Noteworthy and the Osmond 2nd Generation, were awesome. X3 There was an intermission between each act, and some people were starting to get edgy. LOL, during the Osmond segment (which was mostly them singing very nostalgic oldies songs, from The Beatles to The Beach Boys to The Jackson 5, and more), at the end they did a New Year's song and people were randomly throwing beach balls overhead. XD A couple of times the beach balls went on stage and the guys threw them back.
The crowd went wild with applause and interaction for everyone, but we were especially enthusiastic for Rockapella. ♥
LOL, I've seen so many concert clips on YouTube by now that it almost felt like I'd seen them in concert before. But of course, being right there is a million times more awesome than just watching on YouTube!
They opened with a song I wasn't too familiar with, so I'm not sure what the name was. XD; (It may have been Tonight?) Then they did The Hope We Hold, which was just amazing live! *___* And I probably won't be able to list everything in the order they did it, and some songs I won't be able to name at all. XD; But they did Little Mary Snowflake, and Winter Wonderland, and Rudolph, and Merry Christmas Darling, and Love and the Lights, and Angels We Have Heard On High (which especially was much better in person than just on YouTube). They did The Chipmunk Christmas Song, and added other verses and just acted silly. LOL. They randomly called out things they wanted. XD At one point somebody said "An Olsen twin" and later Scott said, "Osmond Brothers DVDs!" They also did The Dreidel Song and Happy Kwanzaa, which were fun. X3 And they did Please Come Home for Christmas, complete with Scott's silly monologue in the middle. XD Everyone cracked up when he solemnly mentioned how terrible Labor Day, St. Patrick's Day, and Columbus Day had been.
For the non-Christmas/holiday ones other than the first one (it was a mixed song concert), they did Got to Get You Into My Life, a Mills Brothers song, Papa Was a Rolling Stone, Ain't Too Proud to Beg/Treat Her Like a Lady (the one where they got someone out of the audience. I was trying to get chosen by sitting on the end, but they were looking for a college student XD), and probably something else that I can edit in later. XD
One of the things I was looking forward to the most was pointing to them on the stage and exclaiming, "Do it, Rockapella!" ♥ Which everyone did for the encore, and we got Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego?
They weren't selling all of their albums, for some unknown reason, but I picked up Smilin' and the guys autographed it. X3 I got to talk to Scott for a few minutes and tell him I'd been a fan since I was four years old. And I got a couple of pictures with them! ^^ Hopefully they'll turn out. They're all amazing, down-to-earth people. It was like hanging out with old friends. X3
As awesome as everything was, and as much as I consider the new guys as much a part of Rockapella as any of the others, it did also make me miss the other guys I grew up with. XD So ... I think it's time for some episode-watching again. **and listens to the recording of their performance of Zombie Jamboree from Carmen.** So. Much. Love.

LOL at the random beach balls! XD
And yay for the guys! ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ **pets "The Hope We Hold"**. And the other songs sound like much love, too. X3 And Scott's "Please Come Home for Christmas" monologue = priceless. XD
X3 They sang "Papa Was a Rolling Stone" both times when they came to my hometown. ♥ And yay for the WITWICS theme! ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥
Ooh, yay pics! X3 **Hope they turn out well, too!**
**Slips into character as Agent Crystal Rose**
Ah, so wonderful that contact with the Informant was successfully established...♥

Date: 2009-01-01 11:50 am (UTC)LOL, they sang Papa Was a Rolling Stone at a Christmas concert?
Yay making contact with the Informant! X3

Date: 2009-01-01 11:53 am (UTC)Yep-- as the encore, and then WITWICS right after it. XD (That was the one where Scott was saying that we had to say "Do it, Rockapella," before they could sing it. LOL XD)
X3

Date: 2009-01-01 10:02 pm (UTC)LOL @ the beach balls! Totally random. Did the audience bring them, or the singers?
Ooh, I love The Hope We Hold! ♥ I'm really hoping I get to hear that in person sometime!
And LOL. Figures that they'd do Angels We Have Heard On High. XD But I'm glad it was better than the YouTube version!
LOL @ The Chipmunk Song! Did they really do the chipmunk voices too?
Hmmm, I don't think I've ever heard the Dreidel Song or Happy Kwanzaa. XD;
And LOL @ Scott's monologue. Totally priceless! Especially seeing it in person. >3
Aww, nuts. Too bad about not getting to go on stage with them! Maybe next time. ^^ (And LOL. Seeing that happen again is going to be a whole new experience for me now that I know who they are! XD)
And yeah, I totally missed doing the "Do it, Rockapella!" when I was there. XD; Next time!
That's awesome that they autographed the CD! X3 And talking with Scott and the pictures are so awesome too. X3
**hugs the original guys.** They're totally the best. ♥
But I would absolutely love to watch the new guys do Zombie Jamboree in person too. >3

Date: 2009-01-02 04:49 am (UTC)You know, I'm not even sure. LOL. They just started flying everywhere.
I'm sure you will! ^^ It was definitely one of the highlights!
Nope, but they did do a part at the beginning where Kevin wasn't coming. XD And they kept calling to him and he finally came on and answered "Okay!" in a high-pitched voice. LOL.
"I have a little dreidel, I made it out of clay ..." There's a clip of it on YouTube. ^^ And apparently Scott wrote Happy Kwanzaa. X3 The lyrics for it were on his site today. He said something that I didn't know at all, that anyone who wants to celebrate Kwanzaa can, like the other cultural holidays that people might celebrate, such as St. Patrick's Day or that Mexican holiday in May. He joked that people celebrate the latter with tequila. LOLOLOL.
It was so amusing! XD He had such a serious expression!
The meet-and-greet was definitely a highlight! If they hadn't needed to hurry to get to their flight back, I would have liked to have hung around until the line dispersed in order to talk to them more. ^^
**hugs the Carmen-era guys.**
Me too, for the limbo! X3 I was thinking it was probably a good thing they didn't sing it last night, though, when Dad was there. LOL.

Aww, that sounds like a cute song! Do you have the link? ^^
Ooh, I had no idea Scott wrote that song! Awesome. X3 And LOL @ the tequila joke!
**nods.** It's too bad they couldn't stay any longer!
LOL. Yeah, it's probably best they didn't! That could definitely earn some strange looks. XD

Especially when Dad never was crazy about that one. LOL. I think he's forgotten about it now, so maybe it's better left that way. XD

Date: 2009-01-09 06:28 am (UTC)And Carmen? As soon as Scott said "There's one more thing you need to do... you know what it is" My sis and I about fell out of our chairs and screamed DO IT ROCKAPELLA!
Also got to see XRP do it in Utah. AMAZING!

Date: 2009-01-02 06:27 am (UTC)...and about beach balls, I think it's sort of common for people to smuggle them in if there'll be crowds somewhere. We had them at at least two graduation ceremo9nies, much to the teachers' dismay. XD

Date: 2009-01-09 06:25 am (UTC)Yea for 2008 firsts!! Got to see XRP in August at Acappellastock in Utah, then my sis and I went to see the Pella in Kettering OH!
They are playing in Richmond, IN which is about as far away as Kettering was... I'm thinking of going, only thing is I'd have to drive back the same night as I have news schtuff at 6am on Sunday... I dunno if I could deal with that just yet, so I'm waiting to see how I feel after I start on Monday to see if I can do the whole "Drive down, see the Pella, drive up go do breaking news, go home, crash." thing...

Date: 2009-01-09 06:35 am (UTC)I didn't know about the Acappellastock thing, but I don't know if I could have gone had I known. Did they do most of the songs the way they're supposed to be sung? LOL. **saw the clip of them doing Zombie Jamboree and was disappointed by the lack of the infamous choreography, as well as not caring for Sean changing the lyrics....**
Oooh. That would be awesome if you could go, but it does sound potentially overwhelming with news stuff the next day. Though maybe you'd be so hyped up from the concert that you'd be able to do the news thing before the adrenaline rush wore off. XD

Date: 2009-01-09 06:49 am (UTC)I only stumbled on the Acappellastock when I was looking at Barry's website. For some reason I said I have to go to this... because I really was kicking myself for not going when the "carmen era" guys were still with the group. (Crap, they had been to like 5 shows in Ann Arbor.. what was my excuse for not going?? Ugh!) So as soon as I found out about XRP, I had to go regardless. Made it happen, (There are pix on my FB) and wow. They actually did the Zombie choreography, and Sean added the lyrics making fun of them being "old" and "out of the group" now, it was actually pretty funny. Most of the songs were choreographed, they did "Flat Tire", and "Change In My Life", and of course "Zombie" and "Carmen". I can't remember the others as I was so... high on the whole experience I didn't remember most of them. Oh! Long Cool Woman and Smilin' too!

Date: 2009-01-09 07:59 am (UTC)I remember seeing the back to back part in the clip I watched, but I was thinking I didn't remember any of the other stuff. Maybe I'm thinking of the lack of props. XD; Or maybe the clip I saw was even from a different XRP performance....
LOL, about the only parts of the reworked lyrics I was able to catch were Sean talking about needing to visit the little boy's room and the "Rockapella was mostly Jews" part. I need to go back and try again to hear the rest....
no subject
Date: 2009-01-09 03:56 pm (UTC)I think they said something like "What was once Rockapella is now XRP, we're on our ninth colonoscopy. Something something... Back when Rockapella was mostly Jews."
Brilliant Altman lyrics, as usual. Poor guy blew out his knee for Utah though so he was on crutches and sitting on a stool the whole time. But still, none the less I'm happy I got to see them. I think I would have probably kicked myself harder if I didn't go.

Date: 2009-01-09 04:16 pm (UTC)Ouch! Oh, poor Sean. Yeah, it was a different concert I saw the clip for, then, because he was standing, walking across the stage, etc.
