I should not have wasted time taking this. But it was interesting. One selects five TV shows and then answers the questions.

1. Princess Tutu
2. Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters
3. The Patty Duke Show
4. Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon
5. The Monkees

Who’s your favorite character in 2?
In YGO ... I'm not sure. The first one who popped into my head was Alister, and he's certainly still one of my favorites. He's serious, blunt, and is really good at disguises. And he's devoted to his younger brother. I think Seto is right; deep down Alister blamed himself for Miruko's death, but it hurt too much so he shifted the blame to Gozaburo Kaiba. He's a fascinating character to pick apart.

Who’s your least favorite character in 1?
In Princess Tutu ... Lilie, of course. I'll never like her, but I have started to wonder if her denseness is an act. There's a scene in Akt 11 where she's exclaiming about Ahiru being sad and Pike flatly says, "You seem happy." Lilie blushes and holds a hand to her mouth like "Oh my" and says "No way!" She looks and sounds like she knows she's been caught in the act. I would actually find her marginally interesting if she knows she has a problem, rather than for her to be empty-headed as she comes across.

What’s your favorite season of 5?
In The Monkees ... season 1, hands-down. The characterization was a thousand times better than season 2. So often in season 2, I want to slap Micky. This makes me sad, since in season 1 he's my favorite character. In season 1 he's intelligent, hilarious, sarcastic, and brave. In season 2 he's been degraded to a whiny, hysterical, random coward most of the time.

What’s your favorite ship in 3?
In The Patty Duke Show ... I think George Tutwiler/Cathy Lane would be an adorable couple if the problems concerning Cousin Betsy were resolved. If I remember right, they seemed to be studying together when Betsy stumbled upon them, so they might have a love of learning in common. And George is a sweet, innocent boy; he just had a very thoughtless moment when Betsy charmed him. But he could change; Patty's boyfriend Richard has certainly had moments of weakness too.

Ted Browning/Cathy Lane is a more canon couple and a lovely one. Ted seems intelligent and level-headed, and he's crazy about Cathy. She thinks highly of him also. Their personalities mesh very well.

Who is your anti-ship in 2?
In YGO ... I'm not sure. Seto/Serenity, perhaps. I understand the basis for it, but it seems too syrupy sweet and cliche. I also don't like Alister/Valon. If they're going to interact and come to like each other more, I'd prefer seeing them as friends/surrogate brothers.

How long have you watched 1?
Princess Tutu ... since June of 2006.

How did you become interested in 3?
The Patty Duke Show.... It's on late-night/early morning on THIS TV network. Mom watches the oldies block and I started seeing it with her sometimes. The Patty Duke Show attracted me because it's more of a domestic comedy than a sitcom and the characters are amazing and well-rounded. And most episodes have a moral point, but it's not annoyingly drilled into you. It's got so much more meat to it than say, Mr. Ed (which is also on the block). Mr. Ed is just a silly sitcom, but that's a rant for another time.

Who’s your favorite actor in 4?
Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon ... is an anime. I'm not sure who my favorite voice actor is. Maybe Emi Shinohara, who plays Makoto Kino/Sailor Jupiter. She is incredible and her singing is powerful. When Jupiter isn't being boy-crazy, she's really a superb character. She's strong and determined and justice-driven, and always puts boys aside to fight for the greater good. She also has a wonderful relationship with a childhood friend and fiercely believes in Sailor Moon. Emi Shinohara portrays all of Jupiter's emotions flawlessly. Jupiter has really become one of my favorite characters. Even her English dub actress, Susan Roman, is really good. I think Jupiter had just about the best voice in the dub.

Which show do you prefer: 1, 2, or 5?
Princess Tutu, YGO, or The Monkees.... Well, as much as I love them all, I still think YGO will always hold the #1 spot for favorite show. I shared adventures with the characters for so many years and I learned so much about writing while doing stories about them and I met so many people I likely never would have otherwise. I think YGO has had the greatest and most long-lasting impact on me of any show I've ever watched. I really think of the characters as friends (albeit I feel the same about the characters on any show I love).

Which show have you seen more episodes of: 1 or 3?
Princess Tutu or The Patty Duke Show.... Well, Tutu only has 26 episodes while Patty has 104. There's only a handful of Patty episodes I haven't seen now.

If you could be anyone from 4, who would you be?
I don't want to be anyone from any show. I like my life.

Give a random quote from 1.
Princess Tutu....

Autor: You're late.
Fakir: What are you talking about?
Autor: It took you eighteen days, seven hours, and twenty-four minutes from the time you started researching your power to when you noticed me.

Would a 3/4 crossover work?
The Patty Duke Show and Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon.... Um, I don't think so. However, if the girls just all met and could hang out without all the magic and bad guys, I think that would work. Ami and Cathy would get along well with their love of studying, and Patty could introduce Minako and Makoto to all the cute guys in school.

Pair two characters in 1 that would make an unlikely, but strangely okay couple.
Princess Tutu.... Autor and Ahiru. There's not much canon evidence in their interaction to support it, it's true. Well, other than Autor's friendly behavior in the follow-up, which may or may not be canon. (But it's squeeful in any case.) It's in their personalities that the evidence comes. Autor is a kind person underneath the arrogant facade and Ahiru is someone who accepts and cares about anyone shown to be good. I think if they got to know each other more, they could become very close. And from there, who knows?

Has 5 inspired you in any way?
The Monkees.... I'm not sure what kind of context "inspired" is being used in, but offhand I don't think that it has. Unless it was that I think the little teddy bears cosplaying The Monkees were my first "big" purchase and I had to work really hard to earn the money to buy them. And the show certainly gave me lots of laughs. It's a joy to watch.

Overall, which show has a better cast: 2 or 4?
YGO or Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon.... Oh gosh. Well, one problem with Sailor Moon is that a lot of the good guys are better in the manga, but the villains are better in the anime. In YGO, the characters are pretty much all awesome in the anime. They only made a couple of slip-ups (Duke's intro ... ugh), but overall I prefer YGO characterization in the anime to the manga. So YGO would probably get my vote.

Which has better theme music: 3 or 5?
The Patty Duke Show or The Monkees.... I love them both. I was originally going to say The Monkees, since it's so catchy and I've loved it for a longer period of time, but I also really love The Patty Duke Show theme. All the horns are awesome and the vocals are great. The lyrics of both amuse me. Patty is more my obsession at the moment. In the end, for me, it might be a draw.

Though I suppose nothing could really top the utter silliness of the antics in The Monkees' theme.

Alister always annoyed me for doing that. But you're right he is a interesting character to pick apart. I understand not liking silentshipping but anti-shipping? Pft look at the YGO shippers list and you'll find ten worse ones that will disgust and blow your mind.

I haven't read all of the manga for Sailor Moon though I own a couple of them. How are the villains in that one? Even I will agree Duke's intro was terrible and I'm not even his biggest fan.

Jupiter's boy crazy does annoy me though it's funny to see her collide with Venus on those matters.

Yeah, I think that may be why Alister isn't so popular. I dunno, I think Gozaburo deserved some of the blame for selling weapons to both sides and only caring about the profit, but Seto definitely didn't deserve to be blamed.

Just about anything you could imagine, people ship. LOL. I've even seen someone who likes Ishizu/Mokuba (hopefully an older Mokuba). That made my eyebrows shoot up.

**shrugs.** Most pairings I'm fairly indifferent to. Others I think are outright stupid or disgusting, and then some I feel are too widespread. The thing about Seto/Serenity that makes so little sense to me is that it has so *many* fans. And they interacted for two seconds. LOL. I could understand a few people using my argument for Autor & Ahiru and basing things on personalities instead of canon evidence, but so very many? I think it's about the most popular fanon het pairing for YGO. LOL.

I suppose actually in retrospect, the pairing that would be my top anti-ship is Marik/Yami Marik. I mean ... that's basically masturbation.

The manga Sailor Moon villains are mostly there to be bad. In the anime, a lot of them have more depth to them.

LOL.

Oh for sure Gozaburo deserves the blame. I get annoyed because he placed that blame on Seto without deserving so. I could understand if Seto kept the company as a war company, but he changed it. So I don't get the blame here.

I now want to find a ship for them. And in my search to do so I found a ship called incestship. YGO can be really messed up.

A couple of the popular ones annoy me like puppyshipping and MarikxYami Marik. Some people who ship Seto with Serenity take things too far. "Oh he followed what she said because he loves her." Uh what show have you been watching? Maybe he's just a decent guy? I'm guessing most people like it because it's the good girl with the bad boy. Plus it would freak Joey out and that's always fun. I like it because I think their personalities would work out together.

My side hurt when I read your dislike for MarikxYami Marik and how you called it masturbation. You're definantly right about that.

Beryl had more depth in the manga. But yeah I see what you mean. I know most Sailor Moon fans prefer the manga but I really don't. It goes too fast and Usagi isn't as strong. I read on Wikipedia the comments about the anime and manga. I have to agree with them.

Yeah, totally. I'm guessing it was unfortunately just because Seto was in the wrong place, i.e., being Gozaburo's step-son. Alister needed someone to blame and Seto was there instead of Gozaburo. I think Alister is the most unstable of the three bikers. I doubt he was thinking very clearly. But taking revenge on the guilty party's family is hopefully not something a lot of people still believe in doing, even though it was common long ago.

Do I dare know which one is actually called Incestship? I don't think there is a pairing name for Ishizu/Mokuba, which is admittedly odd when just about everything else exists.

Yeah, those are generally the reasons I see for why people like Seto/Serenity. For me, that just gets old. I want real explanations based on an analysis of their personalities, not just "Eee, Beauty and the Beast! It's perfect!" and "Joey would freak! Awesome!"

**nods.** Marik/Yami Marik is probably the most sick pairing in YGO ... though there's certainly others right up there.

Yeah, I think Beryl is the only villain better in the manga.

All manga versions of things drive me nuts because of going so fast. People complain about anime fillers, but they often help develop the characters more. That's interesting that you say Usagi isn't as strong in the manga. Most people say she's better in the manga and grows up sooner. I haven't read enough to really say either way. What is the basis for your opinion on Usagi's strength?

From: [identity profile] mythc-writer.livejournal.com
I guess so. That still annoys me but like you said it makes for good character analysis. Valon is the most stable and I actually think Raphael is the most unstable. His whole family died then he turned to the dark side. He got out of it because of Yami then Dartz told him the truth and we went right back. It's a shame too since all the guys in the gang were really good guys. They just went down the wrong path and were obviously misled.

You will know anyway: SetoxIshizuxMarikxMokubaxJounouchixShizuka. I almost want that pairing to exist now. It sounds like it could work or I'd like to see how it would work with an older Mokuba obviously. Ishizu isn't a pedophile.

Yeah I can see why you'd get tired of that. I do look at the personalities and how they would clash or get along. That's why I'm not fond of Seto with Mai. I'm sure there are good authors out there who can make it work. I have a theory that a good author can make any pairing work, except my most hated. But I just don't like them together. I don't think it will work out plus I'm not Mai's biggest fan so I don't want her with my favorite male character.

I think it's the most ridiculous? You want the most sick? My hated shipping: SetoxGozaburoxNoahxMokuba otherwise known as Kaibashipping. It fills me with rage and disgust.

I actually like fillers, if there's not too much of them. The fillers in anime seem like the impromptu, not planned parts of a film that just come out. Some gold can be found in there for the characters. Naturally there can be too much where it leds the plot astray for wacky hijinks.

Do you know why people say she's stronger in the manga? I don't really see that. My reasons for saying she isn't as strong is in the presentation and the way the events folded in the Millenium Kingdom. As I said, the plot goes way too fast. If I didn't know Sailor Moon and the manga was my first travel into that world, I wouldn't feel much of anything for the other characters and not as much for Usagi. The plot zooms by as well as Usagi growing strong which almost appears out of nowhere. I'll give the manga credit with her developing at a pretty good pace in the first two mangas. In the anime it was more drawn out so you can see the gradual change she is going through as she's forced to grow up to save everyone.

The way she dies in her past life cinched it for me. In the anime, she dies along with Endyimon as a battle is breaking out. In the manga, Endyimon dies trying to protect her and in remorse she uses a sword to committ suicide. It reminds me of how Juliet died at the end of the play. She was so upset, in love, and full of grief that she just quit basically.

That's true; Raphael definitely seemed unstable there. Both he and Alister have moments where suddenly they seem to explode with rage. Valon is definitely the most stable.

LOL. That's awful. And at the same time, it looks so convoluted and ridiculous I can't help but feel amused.

I like Mai, but not with Seto. That pairing always makes me blink in surprise.

Kaibashipping is definitely sick. -.- Ugh.

Yeah, I don't like every filler that comes along. Some are just stupid, or sometimes enough is enough.

Ohhh, the suicide thing. I'd forgotten about that for a moment, probably because that was Princess Serenity and I was thinking of Usagi in her current life. I've never liked that, either. I was thinking, "... Girl, you are so selfish! You've got a huge war going on and you're going to abandon everyone and break your mother's heart? You're pathetic." I like to think Usagi in her current life wouldn't have done that.

I don't know why they say Usagi is stronger in the manga. I assume it's because she grows up faster? I don't know. They say she didn't really grow up in the anime until the last few episodes. And I haven't seen the last few episodes to comment, except that I think she grows up quite a bit all along the way, so I don't really get what they're talking about.

Haha I have to agree with your reaction. And yeah she doesn't work with Seto in general. They are far too alike to work out.

I'm glad I wasn't the only one who thought the same thing when she did that. And...Usagi did do that in her current form later in the manga series like the third or fourth one.

The last few episodes of the series in Stars? That's just plain wrong. She grows up several times in the first and second series and throughout the rest too I'm sure. Yeah I don't get why everyone thinks the manga is so much better. The art is gorgeous and more sensual though the way she drews the girls where they are so skinny is frightening.

Oh, that's right, in the final manga of the first arc? I was trying to remember if she'd really been trying to kill herself out of grief that time or if she had some other reason for it. I was thinking some people had said she had a different reason for doing it. I know in the final manga she jumped into the cauldron thing, but I never have been able to make sense of what's going on there and in the final scene.

Usagi definitely does have moments of growth all through the anime. She's a joy to watch.

The manga art looks so wispy. I really love the color art, though.

I love the Monkees theme music, its my all time favourite right behind Fraggle Rock! *lol*

Totally get what you're saying about the second season too, everyone seems to be much sillier and more OTT. I think only Mike keeps his 'father presence' throughout both seasons and Davy (who apart from the falling in love with a different girl every week) was kind of sensible becomes a complete airhead. Saying all that though its still my favourite season.

The Monkees theme will forever be a classic!

Mike in season 2 was awesome. If anything, I think he grew up a bit more. He seemed to become somewhat cynical, too.

Ooh, interesting touch with that interpretation of Alister blaming himself but shifting it to Gozaburo. That makes it even more sad...

Bleah at Micky's character derailment. -.- Hmm, I need to start watching more season 1 eps...

I think YGO has had the greatest and most long-lasting impact on me of any show I've ever watched. I really think of the characters as friends (albeit I feel the same about the characters on any show I love).

Ooh, yes. And I have many wonderful memories of getting to school early to read your fics in the computer lab. XD

Autor: It took you eighteen days, seven hours, and twenty-four minutes from the time you started researching your power to when you noticed me.

LOL! He would keep the perfect time!

Though I suppose nothing could really top the utter silliness of the antics in The Monkees' theme.

LOL, nope! XD

He may have not even consciously realized he was doing it, at least not for some time.

Season 1 is so much better.

^^

That's Autor for you. He's either obsessed with numbers or a math whiz, or both.
