There are so many spammers and bot accounts getting on LJ lately. Why the sudden flood? I'm reporting multiple bot accounts daily because of garbage that's being posted in many comms that I'm in. I'm starting to dread looking at my Friends page.

And I really should have tried to find out about this before I ever started writing the thriller fic. I think I took it for granted that Fakir would not be arrested or charged for assisting the gang with robberies, considering that he's a minor (15, to be exact), a kidnap victim, and he's being forced to help them under the very real threat of his loved ones being killed. Now I'm not sure at all. To me, it really wouldn't seem fair that he would be arrested or charged under the circumstances, even if mildly (as I've just been told may likely be the case). But maybe there are really strict laws about that in Germany. I'm still hoping there's a way out of him being arrested and charged. I did not want that for this fic. Meanwhile, the characters have already been worrying wondering if that will happen. Now I'll have to worry along with them. Poor Fakir; I've gotten him into a terrible mess!

... Well, if it ends up looking like there isn't a way, maybe I can bring Charon's detective friend more into the plot and have him somehow pull some strings for Fakir. Slightly hand-wavey, I suppose, but something must be done.

Also, it looks like it may end up longer than I thought. I finally finished chapter 11 and they're not to the robbery yet. They might not get there by 12, even. Or if they do, it might only be at the end and then spill into 13.

And I want the final scene of the fic to take place on a dock at sunset. Munich has no docks. Therefore, the final scene will have to be somewhere else. I'm thinking now that they'll have to chase Fakir and the gang into Frankfurt and then into Hamburg. It would certainly fit better with the summary I've given the story. And a nation-wide chase was kind of the original idea.

Fakir is going to try desperately to stop someone from ending up killed during the first robbery. I wonder if I could get him out of an arrest by him actively conspiring against the gang from that point. It wouldn't contradict what I already have planned; he's supposed to be beaten and then wonder why nothing was said about his loved ones being killed as punishment. Then he realizes that the gang must have lost track of them. And with that as the case, it's very likely he would actively try to stop them!

Oh, I hope maybe I've just solved the problem.

And I've been trying an experiment: no emoticons (which I'm defining as keyboard-made faces) in journal entries and few to none in conversations. I've been realizing for a long time that I think I've vastly overused them. For a while now I've been decreasing their usage. Now I've wanted to see if I could get by without them altogether. It might last, it might not. At any rate I think I should try to use them more sparingly.

Yeah, that was another thing I'd been thinking of. If Fakir did help them commit any robberies, it would be the first one. And if the guy who was robbed was nice and didn't press charges against Fakir, I wondered if that would get him in the clear. I guess it would depend on if the state decided to press charges.... I need to find some way to look more deeply into German law.

LOL! Option B is hilarious. I've wondered about that, too: how widespread the idea of Story-Spinning would be throughout Germany. Drosselmeyer even wrote for the king (I'm assuming the king of Bavaria, since it was probably still under a king when Drosselmeyer was alive), so at least at that time it was probably common knowledge. In the current day and age, however, it's hard to say. Who knows, I might end up going with that option.
