I'm trying the Paid account trial. It's nice to have more icons again. I remember when I used to be able to afford a Paid account.

I've always loved this icon here, which I took from some long-ago icon post by someone. (I think? Either that or it's her own icon she was using that she gave me permission to take.) It looks like it's from the photo shoots of one of my favorite episodes, #33, It's a Nice Place to Visit.

It's strange. Even though Davy is probably the central character in that episode, causing the conflict and all, I keep thinking of it as a Micky episode. But he does have some classic scenes, from trying to convince the townspeople to rise against the bandits ruling the town to pretending to be a Mexican bandit and "mingling" by dancing on a table to the final, awesome scenes that parody old Westerns by having him in white. He's the one El Diablo challenges to the duel, which surprised me a bit, but I suppose it's because Mike passed Micky off as the leader of their bandit gang.

The somewhat melancholy, yet majestic, horn version of The Monkees' theme that plays as the showdown begins is epic.

I absolutely love Micky's calm reaction as El Diablo shoots all around him before even finishing counting to three. Then, without warning, Micky bursts into childish taunting and faces as he exclaims, "You missed! You missed!" I would love a moving GIF icon of that. It's classic Micky.

I can only make gifs using youtube and unfortunately there's not a clip of that scene on there that isn't ruined by an ugly old watermark.
I did make you a couple of Micky related gifs at http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v57/starcollector/monkee%20gifs/ though. Sorry there isn't more but my pc decided to self destruct over the weekend so I haven't been able to get online.

I love having 30 icons! I'm going to be so gutted when my free trial finally runs out. :(

It would definitely be nice and awesome to have allowances for 30 icons and subsequently represent *all* my major fandoms again like I used to. But, like I said, I'd hate having to give them up after 2 weeks...

Huh. I haven't seen that ep, and I must remedy that because it sounds awesome--especially the horn version of the theme. XD

The great thing about the paid account on LJ is for me actually not the amount of the icon (I don't need them at all) but the lack of ads. :X

The lack of ads is certainly wonderful, too. If Insanejournal didn't have so many ads, I might open a backup account there. You get 100 free icons. But I don't think it's worth it to get saddled with all their ads.

I don't think anyone would "need" so many icons. I, and others, just find them really fun. For me, I like having icons for different emotions, as well as many various shots of favorite characters. And there's so many well-made icons out there, with fun or interesting sentiments and gorgeous coloring.

If the ads just sit there, I usually don't notice them much. It's when they jump out at me and interfere with my ability to do things that my ire arises.

...That icon reminds me of the nameless protagonist from those old westerns... like in The Good, The Bad and The Ugly. LOL. He looks pretty spicy there.

It is a hilarious episode. A lot of the awesome moments are priceless comedy.

Youtube's been having a lot of problems in general lately. You're not allowed to sign into your Youtube without attaching a Google account to it, and one of my friends accidentally deleted an account while trying to get past it (he'd created a dummy account just for testing, so no worries). Maybe that has something to do with it? Deleting your account deletes all the videos, too.

Yeah, I was infuriated when they applied the Google account stipulation. However, when I was looking up things a couple of days ago, I noticed it said that now you can unlink your YouTube account from your Google account. I assume that's because a lot of people were complaining. I'll probably unlink mine.
