After discovering that the previous [livejournal.com profile] 31_days theme fit Carl Kolchak to perfection, I decided to try jotting down a short ficlet idea I had for the show to make the prompt. I made it. I also got it on FF.net, where the category sadly is largely dead. Mine was the first fic since [livejournal.com profile] dangelos_song's in November.

... So after fourteen-odd years of interest, five of those years with more intense interest, and a week and a half of actually watching the show, I put up a fic. A week and a half. Is that a new record for me? I hope the characters sound alright. And I hope someone even more familiar with the show/characters than me will review to let me know how I did.

I can hardly believe I had a dream about Knight Rider. I've seen *five episodes.* My dream involved a very different re-envisioning than what aired about three years ago. My dream version had a girl car and a girl human agent. It was interesting. But I'll still take the original over any re-envisioning.

I'll probably try working on the fic idea I have for it soon. Yes, I'm really going to try going ahead with the sequel idea to Custom-Made Killer. But I still need to decide what should happen in it, other than sightings of the supposed dead man O'Malley. Maybe the villain with the custom-made sportscar should also be back.

I get a new disc today, of Quincy, M.E. episodes. I hope Jimmy has a good-sized part in the episode he guests in!

I also learned, thanks to [livejournal.com profile] dangelos_song, that Johnny Staccato, a rare P.I. TV show, is finally on DVD! YES! It sounds really interesting. And I think Jimmy's character must have a very good-sized part in his episode, as his character's name is even in the title.

And I'll be overhauling my icons once my free Paid Account Trial runs out later today. After using some new icons, I don't want to give them up. So I'll have to play icon musical chairs. I think I've mostly figured out what will have to go.

Yeah, I was pretty freaked out to even try it. The episode with Jimmy just *had* to be the one with the Headless Biker killing others in like manner as he was killed, and I have this *thing* about decapitation. I watched the attack scenes with my hands mostly over my eyes because I wasn't sure how graphic they would be. LOL. Luckily, Jimmy's character (a minor character called "Beaner" in the cast) was not attacked, which I knew before I watched it, or I probably wouldn't have braved it! And I liked Kolchak himself almost immediately. I was already a Darren McGavin fan, so that probably helped. I decided I wanted to see more.

It probably also helps that I've already seen The X-Files (which was inspired by Kolchak and is much darker and scarier), so Kolchak, for the most part, is mild by comparison. I was rather freaked out by the witch episode, though.

LOL. That is interesting! I usually don't dream about things unless I've seen a lot of them.

Supernatural I've heard a lot about, both good and bad. I'm lukewarm about trying it (I think it really might be too freaky for me, with all the emphasis on demons and Hell and Lucifer), but the family squee would definitely be a plus.

I'm sure I'll love it! That's too bad that neither lasted long. I keep wondering if Johnny Staccato will be anything like Peter Gunn, which also has some amazing music. I've seen one Peter Gunn episode and that was enough to make me want the soundtrack.

Ahh, interesting! I think I started out with The Andy Griffith Show and old Disney comedies. I loved Darren McGavin in No Deposit, No Return, where he co-starred with Don Knotts.

Ewww! Thanks for the heads-up; that bothers me too. That scene in Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom makes me want to throw up.

I do recommend The X-Files! The character development is lovely, for the most part. I think the quality started to go down by season 6, though. Actually, I don't like a lot of season 5, either, but there are some favorites there.

Maybe I'll try Supernatural sometime; I'm not sure. The graphicness in general is something I've wondered about too.

Whump. I wonder how that word started. LOL. I prefer the term hurt/comfort myself. Whump both weirds me out because of rhyming with "hump" and that makes my mind go places I'd rather it didn't, and because it sounds like it's nothing more than a little bump on the head.

I recommend Peter Gunn too! It's awesome.

Yes indeed! It makes me sad that Disney keeps feeling the need to remake those films. Why mess with perfection?

They must have steel stomachs!

LOL. That's amusing. And ah, I see.

I definitely got a film noir feeling from it! I need to see more of it. I wish they'd release the rest! They haven't even released all of the first season.

Week and a half? I've come close; it was two and a half weeks between my seeing Monk and writing that ficlit. X3

And interesting plunnies you've got there. ^^

After using some new icons, I don't want to give them up. So I'll have to play icon musical chairs. I think I've mostly figured out what will have to go.

LOL, same here. XD;

Yes, I was quite surprised when you wrote and put up the fic so soon, and I was impressed with how good of a handle you had on Adrian Monk's character already.

Hopefully the Knight Rider one will come out interesting.

Ah, good times.
