On the one hand, I wanted it to be a complete shock to Kolchak that Yami Marik targeted Tony Vincenzo. On the other hand, I wonder if it would be better for Yami Marik to start out attacking the other people at INS, first Ron, then Miss Emily. But if that happens, then Kolchak will already realize that Yami Marik will be going after Tony.

Thoughts? What do you think would be the best way?

Hmm. I tend to lean towards the latter plot--in both Eine Mitternachtsstimme and the wax museum fic I'm planning, it's starts off as a "one by one" until the most important person goes missing (I don't think you want spoilers for the YGO fic, but for the wax museum fic, it's the Germans who will start disappearing first, and then Hogan-tachi realize that this is to unnerve and target them).

Also, there may be more angst that way... oh, but wait--isn't that kinda what you did for "White is the Winter Night" where the stakes got higher and higher? I do like that plot, but if you want to try something different, then you might want to go for the shock of Tony being the first one.

Yeah, the one by one, gradually increasing the horror as people one knows better and better are harmed, is a very good plot device. But I did kind of want something different here, and I wanted Kolchak's utter shock that Tony Vincenzo was attacked. I just wonder if what I want is really the best way.

Yeah, that's exactly what I was thinking and why I wanted it to be Tony first before anyone else Kolchak knows.

(That poor lady. I wasn't quite sure what happened to her, though I assumed Kolchak was too late to save her since she looked pretty limp and lifeless when Kolchak literally stumbled across her in the house.)

Yeah, I was thinking that he would have mentioned something about her in the epilogue. It was like the writers just sort of forgot about her.

It was a really interesting episode! I've never been particularly interested in Jack the Ripper in general, but I do wonder about his true identity and would be interested in learning the truth about that. And a year and a half ago, some new TV specials on the Ripper partially inspired a psychological horror fic I did for Yu-Gi-Oh!, White is in the Winter Night. I still think it's one of my best fics.

Yes, it is! I'm really proud of it and it's quite popular with my readers. It might be a bit confusing for someone not into Yu-Gi-Oh!, but if you want to give it a try anyway I'd be honored.

Do you mean the header for this journal or for the fic journal? For this journal, the guy is Syaoran and the girl is Sakura, from the CLAMP manga Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle. And thank you! It is an amazing header. It was made by [livejournal.com profile] yamsteapot.

(Oh, by the way, I have an opportunity to get hold of the original Kolchak pre-series movies, new, for an amazing price. After finding out that they are out of print and astronomically priced, I definitely don't think I should pass it up. However, I'm wondering if you have ever seen them and can tell me something about them. Well, specifically, whether there's any mentions of devil-worshipping cults or the like. That's pretty much the only time the TV show strays into territory I am very uncomfortable with; I fast-forwarded a couple of minutes in the vampire episode because of it and I'm not sure I'll ever watch the episode with the Hellhound.)

Ahh. Well, I agree with you to some extent. I absolutely adored the line in The Trevi Collection where Kolchak accused the witch of consorting with the Prince of Darkness. And after your description of the Hellhound episode, I might brave it after all.

I think I would be interested by The Visitation, too.

The only thing I really didn't like in the vampire episode was where they seemed to be going to talk about what happened in a devil-worshipping sacrifice. So I'm mainly just wondering if there's anything like that in the movies.

Okay, thank you!

One other question. The gal in The Night Strangler is an exotic dancer, according to what I've read. Do they show her performing?

I just wanted to let you know, I've seen all episodes of Kolchak now, including the Hellhound one. I really enjoyed it! I only skipped over the scene where the guy is doing his ritual, then started it up again when he and Kolchak have their intriguing confrontation and he tries to tempt Kolchak into joining him. The holy water acting like acid and breaking the devil's power is awesome.

I was really highly intrigued by how the creep was trying to tempt Kolchak and the things he seemed to know. I need to do something with that sometime, maybe exploring a bit of the concept of Kolchak blaming Tony while knowing he himself is more at fault.

I think the second idea sounds better.

Ordinarily, I would too, but after thinking it over more and discussing it with a fellow Kolchak fan in a thread above, I still think I should probably use the first way for this fic. I do the second way too much.
