The second volume of the Phoenix Wright manga is epic. Miles is there for both featured cases. The second case is just kind of silly, but the first, the remainder of the spider case from volume #1, is the epic part. Miles is his awesome self, and I'm sure fans will be highly pleased! I don't want to spoil it, but anyone who likes Miles should love this volume! Get it as soon as possible!

Also, I have to say I like that neither volume has brought in the whole spirit-channeling element (other than a brief allusion to its existence). It's not really one of my favorite elements of the series. I'd rather see crimes solved with logic and deduction only and to not have to resort to psychics.

And I swear, it's nigh impossible to find gen fic concerning Phoenix and Miles. I tend to stay away from the fandom, so I don't know if it's changed in the last few years, but I remember turning up maybe one or two fics in the past and that was all. And one of them was Miles interacting with some female OC. Sigh.

(Of course, the other was a really epic hurt/comfort oneshot involving that time Miles tried to use that ... it's on the tip of my tongue, but that psychic lock or whatever it is involving some of the supernatural elements of the series. And he ended up badly injured from trying it.)

Does anyone possibly have any gen fic recommendations concerning Phoenix and Miles? (Bonus points if it's hurt/comfort!) Oneshots preferably, as I really don't have time to devote to a multi-chapter, but if you know of an awesome gen multi-chapter focusing on their friendship I'd be happy to know of that too!

Gah, I went to Barnes and Noble the day volume 2 came out, since that's where I found volume 1, and they didn't have it. Maybe they'll have it this weekend...

I agree, it is hard to find good gen fic in the AA fandom. I really dislike Phoenix/Maya, which is one of the most popular pairings in the fandom. XD; Along with Phoenix/Edgeworth, which I'm not a big fan of either.

Ugh, how frustrating! I've definitely had my share of those experiences. Hopefully you can get it over the weekend!

Oh really? I thought the fandom, by and large, was devoted to Phoenix/Edgeworth. Phoenix/Maya ... is a nightmare. Maya just isn't mature enough. (And I'm not sure she ever would be.)

Well, Maya's immaturity is part of it, I mean I think Phoenix thinks of her as a kid sister and nothing more. (Although I don't know about "never." I don't think she'd ever stop being random and goofy, but by the end of T&T I think that she realizes that now that her mother, aunt, and sister are all gone, she has a responsibility to Kurain and Pearl that she can't keep putting off.)

My thing is I just like their friendship too much for there to be romance there. For all of Maya's weirdness and for all the times Phoenix complains about her, they really do seem to support each other through everything.

(Yeah, I originally said "never", but then changed it to me not being sure if she ever would grow up. I wish they hadn't gone into the Apollo Justice thing. I would have liked to have seen Maya acting more mature to balance her nuttiness. As it is, I think the only female character in the series that I would consider an absolute favorite is Mia. And then Pearl is just adorable.)

And I hear you completely on the friendship angle. That's how I feel about Phoenix and Miles, and most other platonic relationships that I'm sick of seeing romanticized.

(And totally off-topic, but it puzzles me to no end that there's Mia and Maya. Both names look like they should be pronounced the same way. **headdesk.** I suppose Phoenix's mentor's name is pronounced MEE-ah, however.)

I love Phoenix Wright! I'm still playing through the third game right now ... although I got the one featuring Miles last Christmas. XD; I need to get on that. Never read the manga, though!

The manga is new in America! Volume 1 came out in June, and volume 2 last week. I highly recommend it! It captures the characters wonderfully.

And it's so epic that Miles got his own game. (Games, actually, but they don't want to let us have the second one. Ugh. Maybe if the manga sells well, they'll change their minds.)

Is this different from the Ace Attorney casebooks? I own both of those, and, I don't recall anything about a spider mansion. . . . (If anything, I thought of the Heiji/Kazuha Spider Mansion case in Detective Conan. *sweatdrops*)

Really, there's a lack of Phoenix-Miles gen fic? I haven't consumed much of the fandom (because I felt gulity for watching cutscenes when I know, at this point in my life, I wouldn't be able to afford supporting the developers, that is, buy the games, not to mention the actual gaming console needed to play them) but, from what I know, the two of them seem to have a really interesting relationship! I always thought that it was awesome that Miles was the one who inspired Phoenix to be a lawyer. Is it all Phoenix/Miles slash in the fandom?

All this is making me miss the series, heh. Maybe I should just watch all of those cutscenes. . . .

It's very different. In an earlier entry, I talk about it. This manga is so much better than those silly casebooks. This manga series is actual cases and plots. It's so awesome! I highly recommend it.

Phoenix and Miles are so amazing. Miles did inspire Phoenix to become a lawyer, albeit inadvertently! Miles wanted to be a defense attorney, but then he changed, becoming bitter and turning to prosecution when he moved away. Phoenix was worried about him and decided to become a defense lawyer in the hopes of encountering him in court and finding out what happened. The slashers jump all over that, because of course it's not possible for people who are just friends to care that much about each other. (End sarcasm.)

I never did watch all of the cutscenes. I read the scripts, instead. LOL. I tried watching some of the cutscenes later and didn't like how they were only able to reuse the same few GIFs for the characters over and over. I liked reading the scripts better, where I could imagine their expressions and the scenes in more detail.
