Shows for teens and shows for adults.

So I'm watching MeTV, as usual, and they advertise lots of CW shows on there since the local CW is an affiliate of the same channel that affiliates with the local MeTV.
They advertise the new version of The Flash. And some girl is talking about having a spell of chronic diarrhea, apparently meaning it as a sarcastic quip from her tone of voice.
Ummmm, what?
**rolls eyes.** I can count on Gotham to not rely on dumb, childish scatological humor. It's a nice, intelligent, intense series written for mature people. And tonight's episode was the best they've done yet!
Edward Nygma/the future Riddler had so, so much screentime. It was such a thrill to see him be so prominent, after several episodes of appearing for one or two minutes at best.
He has a question mark mug, how adorable. Aww.
And the girl in the records department that he has a crush on looks an awful lot like Julie, the Riddler's love interest on The Batman. This girl's name is Kristen Kringle. ROTFLOL. It remains to be seen if she's as horrible as Julie. Right now she's not interested in Edward.
My only sadness is that, judging from a comment he makes about humor being important, he'll probably be one of the really nutty giggling Riddlers once he goes bad. I prefer serious Riddlers, like the one on The Batman. However, it was a giggling Riddler who first made the character popular, so I can't complain too much.
And Penguin/Oswald Cobblepot did something awesome! When James Gordon got arrested for Penguin's murder, I knew the only thing that could save him would likely be an appearance by Penguin himself. And Penguin came! The fallout in next episode looks like it'll be bad, and Harvey Bullock is sure mad now, but it was so great to see Penguin come, even if it was for ultimately selfish reasons due to hoping James can help him more later on.
I also liked seeing Penguin go home to his mother and let her know he's okay.
Also, ten years ago, Harvey Bullock was actually idealistic and righteous and more like James Gordon is now. I half-expected it, really, but it was both neat and sad to see it. It looks like his partner being hurt by a nutcase probably contributed a lot to Harvey becoming so cynical and bitter. And him feeling like killing the bad guys instead of bringing them in isn't a bad thing.
And James's fiancee is acting nicer again. It still seems unreasonable for her to want to know everything, but now she's saying she just wants to share his burden, and even just know half, and she insisted to Montoya that she knows what Montoya thinks about him is wrong. Squeeee.
I love this show. So much. I can hardly wait for next week's episode!
The last couple of times I've been able to watch it as it airs on TV. So much nicer than playing it online and having it skip around and buffer. I really only want to watch it on TV if I won't be walked in on, so we'll see if that pattern continues.
Next week American Ride is finally back, too, and it'll be in the same timeslot. Sigh. But luckily, it does repeat a couple of times. I could catch the 10 P.M. or the 1 A.M. repeat.
It is really nice to have a couple of current TV shows that are worth following and looking forward to, especially after Once has been disappointing me so thoroughly all year. I just hope Gotham always keeps to the same levels of awesome. Once was really great in its first year too. It was really in season 2 when it started to unravel, but I gritted my teeth and stuck it out and found enough to like about it until season 3B came along.

Date: 2014-10-29 01:44 am (UTC)As far as Once goes, I thought S2 was *awesome* until they had Cora get Regina back under her wing. If that hadn't happened, it would've been perfect, I think. Even the Neverland stuff had some good things to take away from it. Sigh...

Date: 2014-10-29 02:05 am (UTC)The Cora and Regina mess definitely screwed with the show. (I also dislike how it seemed to be considered such a terrible thing for Snow to kill Cora, considering what a danger Cora was to all of them. I think the only really awful thing about that was that she used Regina to do it.) And agreed, up including 3A, there were enough good things to take away from it that I tried to accept even the stuff I didn't like. Now, I'm just not sure how to do that and not sure how to not do it. **headdesk.**
